4 ¹ Now, Israel, listen to the statutes and to the ordinances, which I teach you, to do them; that you may live, and go in and possess the land which Yahweh, the God of your fathers, gives you. ⁵ Behold, I have taught you statutes and ordinances, even as Yahweh my God commanded me, that you should do so in the midst of the land where you go in to possess it. ⁶ Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the peoples, who shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people. ⁷ For what great nation is there, that has a god so near to them, as Yahweh our God is whenever we call on him? ⁸ What great nation is there, that has statutes and ordinances so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day? ⁹ Only take heed to yourself, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things which your eyes saw, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life; but make them known to your children and your children’s children;

17 “Don’t think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfill. ¹⁸ For most assuredly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter literally, iota or one tiny pen stroke or, serif shall in any way pass away from the law, until all things are accomplished. ¹⁹ Whoever, therefore, shall break one of these least commandments, and teach others to do so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever shall do and teach them shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.

17 »Ne mislite, da sem prišel razvezat postavo ali preroke; ne razvezat, temveč dopolnit sem jih prišel. 18 Resnično, povem vam: Dokler ne preideta nebo in zemlja, ne bo prešla niti ena črka ali ena črtica postave, dokler se vse ne zgodi. 19 Kdor bo torej kršil eno od teh, pa čeprav najmanjših zapovedi in bo tako ljudi učil, bo najmanjši v nebeškem kraljestvu. Kdor pa jih bo izpolnjeval in učil, bo imenovan velik v nebeškem kraljestvu.

V tebi se bom veselil in ukal,

Ni bilo prošenj, ne bojev, ne žrtev. Jezus in uboga Terezika sta se že davno srečala s pogledi in se razumela. A ta dan se nista samo pogledala; zlila sta se v eno. Že nista bila več dva. Terezija je izginila, kot izgine kaplja v brezbrežnem oceanu. Ostal je le Jezus, gospodar in kralj.

Mar ga ni Terezija prosila, naj jo reši svobode, kajti svobode se je bala. Čutila se je tako onemoglo, tako šibko, da se je zdavnaj hotela združiti z Božjo močjo. Prevelika je bila njena radost, pregloboka vsa, da bi jo zadržala. Kar brž so jo oblile solze veselja, v veliko začudenje njenih tovarišic, ki so se še pozneje spraševale:

“Zakaj je jokala? Jo je kaj vznemirjalo…”

21 Then Peter came and said to him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Until seven times?” ²² Jesus said to him, “I don’t tell you until seven times, but, until seventy times seven. ²³ Therefore the Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king, who wanted to reconcile accounts with his servants. ²⁴ When he had begun to reconcile, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. Ten thousand talents represents an extremely large sum of money, equivalent to about ⁶⁰,⁰⁰⁰,⁰⁰⁰ denarii, where one denarius was typical of one day’s wages for agricultural labor. ²⁵ But because he couldn’t pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, with his wife, his children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. ²⁶ The servant therefore fell down and kneeled before him, saying, ‘Lord, have patience with me, and I will repay you all!’ ²⁷ The lord of that servant, being moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt. ²⁸ “But that servant went out, and found one of his fellow servants, who owed him one hundred denarii, ¹⁰⁰ denarii was about one sixtieth of a talent. and he grabbed him, and took him by the throat, saying, ‘Pay me what you owe!’ ²⁹ “So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, ‘Have patience with me, and I will repay you!’ ³⁰ He would not, but went and cast him into prison, until he should pay back that which was due. ³¹ So when his fellow servants saw what was done, they were exceedingly sorry, and came and told to their lord all that was done. ³² Then his lord called him in, and said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt, because you begged me. ³³ Shouldn’t you also have had mercy on your fellow servant, even as I had mercy on you?’ ³⁴ His lord was angry, and delivered him to the tormentors, until he should pay all that was due to him. ³⁵ So my heavenly Father will also do to you, if you don’t each forgive your brother from your hearts for his misdeeds.”

23 Zato je nebeško kraljestvo podobno kralju, ki je hotel napraviti račun s svojimi služabniki. 24 Ko je začel računati, so mu privedli nekoga, ki mu je bil dolžan deset tisoč talentov. 25 Ker ni imel s čim povrniti, je njegov gospodar ukazal prodati njega, njegovo ženo, otroke in vse, kar je imel, ter poravnati dolg. 26 Služabnik je tedaj padel predenj in ga prosil: ›Potŕpi z menoj in vse ti povrnem.‹ 27 Gospodar tega služabnika se ga je usmilil, oprostil ga je in mu dolg odpustil. 28 Ko pa je služabnik šel ven, je srečal enega svojih soslužabnikov, ki mu je bil dolžan sto denarijev. Zgrabil ga je, ga davil in rekel: ›Vrni, kar si dolžan!‹ 29 Ta je padel predenj in ga prosil: ›Potrpi z menoj in ti povrnem.‹ 30 Oni pa ni hotel, ampak je šel in ga vrgel v ječo, dokler mu ne bi povrnil dolga. 31 Ko so njegovi tovariši videli, kaj se je zgodilo, so se zelo razžalostili in šli svojemu gospodarju podrobno povedat, kaj se je zgodilo. 32 Tedaj ga je gospodar poklical k sebi in mu rekel: ›Hudobni služabnik! Ves dolg sem ti odpustil, ker si me prosil. 33 Ali nisi bil tudi ti dolžan usmiliti se svojega soslužabnika, kakor sem se jaz usmilil tebe?‹ 34 In njegov gospodar se je razjezil in ga izročil mučiteljem, dokler mu ne bi povrnil vsega dolga. 35 Tako bo tudi moj nebeški Oče storil z vami, če vsak iz srca ne odpusti svojemu bratu.«
