18 Let no one deceive himself. If anyone thinks that he is wise among you in this world, let him become a fool, that he may become wise.
19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He has taken the wise in their craftiness.”
20 And again, “The Lord knows the reasoning of the wise, that it is worthless.”
21 Therefore let no one boast in men. For all things are yours,
22 whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come. All are yours,
23 and you are Christ’s, and Christ is God’s.

18 Nihče naj se ne vara! Če kdo izmed vas misli, da je moder v tem svetu, naj postane nor, da postane moder, 19 kajti modrost tega sveta je pri Bogu norost. Zapisano je namreč:
Modre ujame v njihovi prekanjenosti,
20 in spet:
Gospod pozna misli modrih;
ve, da so prazne.
21 Zato naj se nihče ne ponaša z ljudmi! Vse je namreč vaše: 22 Pavel, Apolo, Kefa, svet, življenje in smrt, sedanjost in prihodnost. Vse je vaše, 23 vi Kristusovi, Kristus pa Božji.

Vhod v svetišče
1 Davidov psalm.
GOSPODOVA je zemlja in kar jo napolnjuje,
zemeljski krog in njegovi prebivalci.
2 Zakaj on jo je osnoval na morjih,
on jo je utrdil na veletokih.
3 Kdo se sme povzpeti na GOSPODOVO goro,
kdo sme stati na njegovem svetem kraju?
4 Tisti, ki je nedolžnih rok in čistega srca,
ki svoje duše ne vzdiguje k praznim rečem
in ne prisega na prevaro.
5 Prejel bo blagoslov od GOSPODA,
pravičnost od Boga svoje rešitve.
6 To je rod tistih, ki po njem povprašujejo,
ki iščejo tvoje obličje, Jakob.

1 Now it happened, while the multitude pressed on him and heard the word of God, that he was standing by the lake of Gennesaret.
2 He saw two boats standing by the lake, but the fishermen had gone out of them, and were washing their nets.
3 He entered into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat.
4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into the deep, and let down your nets for a catch.”
5 Simon answered him, “Master, we worked all night, and took nothing; but at your word I will let down the net.”
6 When they had done this, they caught a great multitude of fish, and their net was breaking.
7 They beckoned to their partners in the other boat, that they should come and help them. They came, and filled both boats, so that they began to sink.
8 But Simon Peter, when he saw it, fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, Lord.”
9 For he was amazed, and all who were with him, at the catch of fish which they had caught;
10 and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon.
Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid. From now on you will be catching people alive.”
11 When they had brought their boats to land, they left everything, and followed him.

Jezus pokliče prve učence
1 Ko je množica pritiskala nanj in poslušala Božjo besedo, on pa je stal ob Genezareškem jezeru, 2 je zagledal dva čolna pri bregu; ribiči so pravkar stopili iz njiju in izpirali mreže. 3 Stopil je v enega izmed čolnov, bil je Simonov, in Simona prosil, naj odrine malo od kraja. Sédel je in učil množico iz čolna. 4 Ko pa je nehal govoriti, je rekel Simonu: »Odrini na globoko in vrzite mreže za lov!« 5 Simon mu je odgovoril: »Učenik, vso noč smo se trudili, pa nismo nič ujeli,
a na tvojo besedo bom vrgel mreže.« 
6 In ko so to storili, so zajeli veliko množino rib, tako da so se jim mreže začele trgati. 7 Pomignili so tovarišem v drugem čolnu, naj jim pridejo pomagat. Prišli so in napolnili oba čolna, tako da sta se začela potapljati. 8 Ko je Simon Peter to videl, je padel Jezusu pred noge in rekel: »Pojdi od mene, Gospod, ker sem grešen človek!« 9 Nad ulovom rib, ki so jih zajeli, je osupnil on in vsi, ki so bili z njim, 10 prav tako pa tudi Jakob in Janez, Zebedejeva sinova, ki sta bila Simonova družabnika. Tedaj je Jezus rekel Simonu: »Ne boj se! Odslej boš lovil ljudi.« 11 In ko so potegnili čolna na kopno, so pustili vse in šli za njim.
