3 ¹ Now Moses was keeping the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the back of the wilderness, and came to God’s mountain, to Horeb. ² The angel of Yahweh appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. He looked, and behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. ³ Moses said, “I will turn aside now, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.” ⁴ When Yahweh saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the midst of the bush, and said, “Moses! Moses!” He said, “Here I am.” ⁵ He said, “Don’t come close. Take off your sandals from off your feet, for the place you are standing on is holy ground.” ⁶ Moreover he said, “I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look at God. ⁷ Yahweh said, “I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. ⁸ I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey; to the place of the Canaanite, the Hittite, the Amorite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite. ¹³ Moses said to God, “Behold, when I come to the children of Israel, and tell them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you;’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ What should I tell them?” ¹⁴ God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM,” and he said, “You shall tell the children of Israel this: “I AM has sent me to you.” ¹⁵ God said moreover to Moses, “You shall tell the children of Israel this, ‘Yahweh, the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me to you.’ This is my name forever, and this is my memorial to all generations.

1 Mojzes je pasel drobnico svojega tasta Jitra, midjánskega duhovnika. Ko je nekoč prignal drobnico daleč v pustinjo, je prišel k Božji gori Horeb. 2 Tedaj se mu je iz sredine grma v ognjenem plamenu prikazal GOSPODOV angel. Pogledal je in glej, grm je gorel s plamenom, a ni zgorel. 3 Mojzes je rekel: »Moram stopiti tja in si ogledati to veliko prikazen, kako da grm ne zgori!« 4 Ko je GOSPOD videl, da prihaja gledat, ga je Bog poklical iz sredine grma in rekel: »Mojzes, Mojzes!« Rekel je: »Tukaj sem.« 5 Bog je rekel: »Ne hôdi sem! Sezuj si sandale z nog, kajti kraj, kjer stojiš, je sveta zemlja!« 6 Potem je rekel: »Jaz sem Bog tvojega očeta, Bog Abrahamov, Bog Izakov in Bog Jakobov.« Tedaj si je Mojzes zakril obraz, kajti bal se je gledati v Boga.

7 GOSPOD je rekel: »Dobro sem videl stisko svojega ljudstva, ki je v Egiptu, in slišal, kako vpije zaradi priganjačev; da, poznam njegove bolečine. 8 Zato sem stopil dol, da ga rešim iz rok Egipčanov in ga popeljem iz te dežele v lepo in širno deželo, v deželo, v kateri se cedita mleko in med, na področje Kánaancev, Hetejcev, Amoréjcev, Perizéjcev, Hivéjcev in Jebusejcev.

13 In Mojzes je rekel Bogu: »Glej, če pridem k Izraelovim sinovom in jim rečem: ›Bog vaših očetov me je poslal k vam,‹ pa mi rečejo: ›Kako mu je ime?‹ – kaj naj jim odgovorim?« 14 Bog mu je rekel: »JAZ SEM, KI SEM.« In nato je rekel: »Tako reci Izraelovim sinovom: ›JAZ SEM‹ me je poslal k vam.« 15 Nadalje je Bog rekel Mojzesu: »Tako reci Izraelovim sinovom: ›GOSPOD, Bog vaših očetov, Bog Abrahamov, Bog Izakov in Bog Jakobov me je poslal k vam.‹ To je moje ime na veke in to je v spomin name iz roda v rod.

All that is within me, praise his holy name! ² Praise Yahweh, my soul, And don’t forget all his benefits; ³ Who forgives all your sins; Who heals all your diseases; ⁴ Who redeems your life from destruction; Who crowns you with loving kindness and tender mercies; ⁶ Yahweh executes righteous acts, And justice for all who are oppressed. ⁷ He made known his ways to Moses, His deeds to the children of Israel. ⁸ Yahweh is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness. ¹¹ For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is his loving kindness toward those who fear him.

1 Davidov psalm.

Slávi, moja duša, GOSPODA,

vsa moja notranjost njegovo sveto ime.

2 Slávi, moja duša, GOSPODA,

ne pozabi nobenega dejanja njega,

3 ki odpušča vso tvojo krivdo,

ki ozdravlja vse tvoje bolezni,

4 ki iz jame rešuje tvoje življenje,

ki te krona z dobroto in usmiljenjem,

6 GOSPOD opravlja dela pravičnosti,

dela pravice za vse zatirane.

7 Mojzesu je dal spoznati svoje poti,

Izraelovim sinovom svoja dela.

8 Usmiljen in milostljiv je GOSPOD,

počasen v jezi in bogat v dobroti.

11 Zakaj kakor je nebo visoko nad zemljo,

je njegova dobrota silna nad tistimi, ki se ga bojijo.

For they drank of a spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was Christ. ⁵ However with most of them, God was not well pleased, for they were overthrown in the wilderness. ⁶ Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. ¹⁰ Neither grumble, as some of them also grumbled, and perished by the destroyer. ¹¹ Now all these things happened to them by way of example, and they were written for our admonition, on whom the ends of the ages have come. ¹² Therefore let him who thinks he stands be careful that he doesn’t fall.

Svarilo pred malikovanjem

1 Nočem, bratje, da bi vi ne vedeli, da so bili vsi naši očetje pod oblakom, da so šli vsi skozi morje 2 in da so bili v oblaku in morju vsi krščeni v Mojzesa. 3 Vsi so jedli isto duhovno jed 4 in vsi so pili isto duhovno pijačo. 12 Kdor torej misli, da stoji, naj pazi, da ne pade.

13 ¹ Now there were some present at the same time who told him about the Galileans, whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. ² Jesus answered them, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered such things? ³ I tell you, no, but, unless you repent, you will all perish in the same way. ⁴ Or those eighteen, on whom the tower in Siloam fell, and killed them; do you think that they were worse offenders than all the men who dwell in Jerusalem? ⁵ I tell you, no, but, unless you repent, you will all perish in the same way.” ⁶ He spoke this parable. “A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it, and found none. ⁷ He said to the vine dresser, ‘Behold, these three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and found none. Cut it down. Why does it waste the soil?’ ⁸ He answered, ‘Lord, leave it alone this year also, until I dig around it, and fertilize it. ⁹ If it bears fruit, fine; but if not, after that, you can cut it down.’”

1 Prav v tistem času je bilo tam navzočih nekaj ljudi, ki so mu pripovedovali o Galilejcih, katerih kri je Pilat pomešal z njihovimi žrtvami. 2 Odgovoril jim je: »Mar mislite, da so bili ti Galilejci večji grešniki kakor vsi drugi Galilejci, ker so to pretrpeli? 3 Povem vam, da ne. 6 In povedal je tole priliko: »Nekdo je imel v svojem vinogradu zasajeno smokvo. Prišel je iskat sad na njej, pa ga ni našel. 7 Rekel je svojemu vinogradniku: ›Glej, tri leta je že, kar hodim iskat sad na tej smokvi, pa ga ne najdem.
