5 1 Now you shall gather yourself in troops, Daughter of troops. He has laid siege against us; They will strike the judge of Israel with a rod on the cheek. 2 But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Being small among the clans of Judah, Out of you one will come forth to me that is to be ruler in Israel; Whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting. 3 Therefore he will abandon them until the time that she who is in labor gives birth. Then the rest of his brothers will return to the children of Israel. 4 He shall stand, and shall shepherd in the strength of Yahweh, In the majesty of the name of Yahweh his God: And they will live, for then he will be great to the ends of the earth.

Mesija pride iz Betlehema

1 Ti pa, Betlehem Efráta,
si premajhen, da bi bil med Judovimi tisočnijami:
iz tebe mi pride tisti,
ki bo vladal v Izraelu,
njegovi izviri so od nekdaj,
iz davnih dni.
2 Zato jih bo predal do časa,
ko bo porodnica rodila;
nato se bo ostanek njegovih bratov vrnil
k Izraelovim sinovom.
3 Trdno bo stal in pasel čredo z GOSPODOVO močjo,
z veličastvom imena GOSPODA, svojega Boga,
in prebivali bodo, kajti zdaj bo velik
do koncev zemlje.
4 In to bo mir:
Če pride Asirec v našo deželo
in vkoraka proti našim dvorom,
vzdignemo proti njemu sedmero pastirjev,
osmero poglavarjev ljudi.

5 Zato pravi ob svojem prihodu na svet:

Žrtve in daritve nisi hotel,
a telo si mi pripravil.
6 Žgalne daritve in daritve za greh
ti niso bile všeč.
7 Tedaj sem rekel: »Glej, prihajam;
v zvitku knjige je pisano o meni,
da izpolnim, o Bog, tvojo voljo.«

39 Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Judah, 40 and entered into the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth. 41 It happened, when Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, that the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. 42 She called out with a loud voice, and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! 43 Why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 For behold, when the voice of your greeting came into my ears, the baby leaped in my womb for joy! 45 Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of the things which have been spoken to her from the Lord!”

Marija obišče Elizabeto

39 Tiste dni je Marija vstala in se v naglici odpravila v gričevje, v mesto na Judovem. 40 Stopila je v Zaharijevo hišo in pozdravila Elizabeto. 41 Ko je Elizabeta zaslišala Marijin pozdrav, se je dete veselo zganilo v njenem telesu. Elizabeta je postala polna Svetega Duha 42 in je na ves glas vzkliknila in rekla: »Blagoslovljena ti med ženami, in blagoslovljen sad tvojega telesa!

43 Od kod meni to, da pride k meni mati mojega Gospoda? 44 Glej, ko je prišel glas tvojega pozdrava do mojih ušes, se je dete v mojem telesu od radosti zganilo. 45 Blagor ji, ki je verovala, da se bo izpolnilo, kar ji je povedal Gospod!«
