19 I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh, for as you presented your members as servants to uncleanness and to wickedness upon wickedness, even so now present your members as servants to righteousness for sanctification. 20 For when you were servants of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness. 21 What fruit then did you have at that time in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. 22 But now, being made free from sin, and having become servants of God, you have your fruit of sanctification, and the result of eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

19 Zaradi šibkosti vašega mesa govorim pač po človeško. Kakor ste torej usužnjili svoje ude nečistosti in nepostavnosti, da bi živeli v nepostavnosti, tako usužnjite svoje ude pravičnosti za posvečenje. 20 Kajti ko ste bili sužnji greha, ste bili svobodni v svojem razmerju do pravičnosti. 21 Toda kakšen sad ste imeli takrat od dejanj, ki se jih zdaj sramujete? Saj je njihov konec smrt. 22 Zdaj pa, ko ste se osvobodili greha in ste postali sužnji Bogu, pobirate sad, ki vam je v posvečenje, konec tega pa je večno življenje. 23 Plačilo za greh je namreč smrt; Božji milostni dar pa je večno življenje v Kristusu Jezusu, našem Gospodu.

The Psalms BOOK I 1 1 Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the way of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers; 2 But his delight is in Yahweh’s law; On his law he meditates day and night. 3 He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also does not wither. Whatever he does shall prosper. 4 The wicked are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away. 6 For Yahweh knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the wicked shall perish.

Dvoje poti življenja

1

1 Blagor človeku,
ki ne hodi na posvet krivičnikov,
ne stopa na pot grešnikov
in ne seda na klop porogljivcev,
2 temveč se veseli v GOSPODOVI postavi
in premišljuje njegovo postavo podnevi in ponoči.
3 Tak je kakor drevo,
zasajeno ob potokih voda,
ki daje svoj sad ob svojem času
in njegovo listje ne ovene;
vse, kar dela, uspeva.


4 S krivičniki ni tako,
temveč so kakor pleve,
ki jih veter raznaša.

6 Zakaj GOSPOD pozna pot pravičnih,
pot krivičnih pa vodi v pogubo.

49 “I came to throw fire on the earth. I wish it were already kindled. 50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am until it is accomplished! 51 Do you think that I have come to give peace in the earth? I tell you, no, but rather division. 52 For from now on, there will be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. 53 They will be divided, father against son, and son against father; mother against daughter, and daughter against her mother; mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”

49 »Prišel sem, da vržem ogenj na zemljo, in kako želim, da bi se že razplamtel! 50 Moram pa prejeti krstBo nebeški Oče dal in v kakšni stiski sem, dokler se to ne dopolni. 51 Mislite, da sem prišel prinašat mir na zemljo? Ne, vam rečem, ampak razdeljenost. 52 Odslej bo namreč v eni hiši pet razdeljenih: trije proti dvema in dva proti trem; 53 razdelili se bodo:
Oče proti sinu
in sin proti očetu;
mati proti hčeri
in hči proti materi;
tašča proti svoji snahi
in snaha proti tašči.«
