Let all the peoples praise him.” 12 Again, Isaiah says, “There will be the root of Jesse, He who arises to rule over the Gentiles; On him will the Gentiles hope.” 13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope, in the power of the Holy Spirit.

21 But now apart from the law, a righteousness of God has been revealed, being testified by the law and the prophets;
22 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ to all and on all those who believe. For there is no distinction,
23 for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God;
24 being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus;
25 whom God set forth to be an atoning sacrifice or, a propitiation, through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness through the passing over of prior sins, in God’s forbearance;
26 to demonstrate his righteousness at this present time; that he might himself be just, and the justifier of him who has faith in Jesus.
27 Where then is the boasting? It is excluded. By what manner of law? Of works? No, but by a law of faith.
28 We maintain therefore that a man is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.
29 Or is God the God of Jews only? Isn’t he the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also,

Opravičenje po veri
21 Zdaj pa se je brez postave pokazala Božja pravičnost, o kateri pričujejo postava in preroki. 22 Božja pravičnost se daje po veri
 v Jezusa Kristusa, in sicer vsem, ki verujejo. Ni namreč nobene razlike: 23 saj so vsi grešili in so brez Božje slave, 24 opravičeni pa so zastonj po njegovi milosti, prek odkupitve v Kristusu Jezusu. 25 Njega je Bog javno določil, da bi bil s svojo krvjo orodje sprave, h kateri prideš po veri. S tem je hotel pokazati svojo pravičnost, zaradi odpuščanja prej storjenih grehov, v Božji potrpežljivosti. 26 Hotel je pokazati svojo pravičnost v sedanjem času, da je namreč sam pravičen in da opravičuje tistega, ki veruje v Jezusa.27 Kje je torej razlog za ponašanje? Ni ga. Po kakšni postavi? Po delih? Ne, temveč po postavi vere. 28 Menimo namreč, da človek doseže opravičenje po veri, brez del postave. 29 Je morda Bog samo Bog Judov? Ali ni tudi Bog poganov? Gotovo, tudi Bog poganov.

47 Woe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.
48 So you testify and consent to the works of your fathers. For they killed them, and you build their tombs.
49 Therefore also the wisdom of God said, ‘I will send to them prophets and apostles; and some of them they will kill and persecute,
50 that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;
51 from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zachariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary.’ Yes, I tell you, it will be required of this generation.
52 Woe to you lawyers! For you took away the key of knowledge. You didn’t enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in, you hindered.”
53 As he said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to be terribly angry, and to draw many things out of him;
54 lying in wait for him, and seeking to catch him in something he might say, that they might accuse him.

47 Gorje vam, ker zidate grobnice prerokom, ki so jih vaši očetje umorili! 48 S tem izpričujete in potrjujete dela svojih očetov, kajti oni so jih umorili, vi pa jim zidate. 49 Zato je tudi rekla Božja Modrost: ›Poslala bom k njim preroke in apostole. Nekatere izmed njih bodo umorili in preganjali, 50 da se bo od tega rodu terjala kri vseh prerokov, ki je bila prelita od stvarjenja sveta: 51 od Abelove krvi do krvi Zaharija, ki je bil ubit med oltarjem in svetiščem.‹ Da, povem vam, od tega rodu se bo terjala. 52 Gorje vam, učitelji postave, ker ste vzeli ključ spoznanja. Sami niste vstopili, tistim pa, ki so hoteli vstopiti, ste to preprečili.« 53 Ko je odšel od tam, so pismouki in farizeji začeli močno pritiskati nanj in skušali še marsikaj izvabiti iz njega, 54 zraven pa so prežali, da bi ujeli kaj iz njegovih ust.
