13 ¹ Let every soul be in subjection to the higher authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those who exist are ordained by God. ² Therefore he who resists the authority, withstands the ordinance of God; and those who withstand will receive to themselves judgment. ³ For rulers are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. Do you desire to have no fear of the authority? Do that which is good, and you will have praise from the same, ⁴ for he is a servant of God to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid, for he doesn’t bear the sword in vain; for he is a minister of God, an avenger for wrath to him who does evil. ⁵ Therefore you need to be in subjection, not only because of the wrath, but also for conscience’ sake. ⁶ For this reason you also pay taxes, for they are ministers of God’s service, attending continually on this very thing. ⁷ Give therefore to everyone what you owe: taxes to whom taxes are due; customs to whom customs; respect to whom respect; honor to whom honor. ⁸ Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law. ⁹ For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery,” “You shall not murder,” “You shall not steal,” “You shall not give false testimony,” “You shall not covet,” TR adds “You shall not give false testimony,” and whatever other commandments there are, are all summed up in this saying, namely, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” ¹⁰ Love doesn’t harm a neighbor. Love therefore is the fulfillment of the law.

Danes se poudarja, kako je povsod v središču človek. Toda prav ta človek izgublja oblast nad seboj in nad izdelki svojih rok in svojega razuma.

V središču ne sme biti človek, ampak Bog. Le tako dobi tudi človek pravo mesto. Za človeka ni dovolj vodoravna smer , smer k sočloveku.

Zanj je življenjsko pomembna navpična smer, smer k Bogu. Šele tedaj prejme tudi vodoravna smersvoje pravo mesto. Ne zadostuje le ljubezen do bližnjega. Potrebna je tudi ljubezen do Boga. Le Bog lahko zagotovi pravo ljubezen do bližnjega.

Jezus nas uči, naj ne bomo pretirano zaskrbljeni, kaj bomo jedli, ali kaj bomo pili ali kaj bomo oblekli. Če bomo iskali najprej Božje kraljestvo in njegovo pravičnost, nam bo vse drugo navrženo.

As it is written, “But the righteous shall live by faith.” ¹⁸ For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, ¹⁹ because that which is known of God is revealed in them, for God revealed it to them. ²⁰ For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity; that they may be without excuse. ²¹ Because, knowing God, they didn’t glorify him as God, neither gave thanks, but became vain in their reasoning, and their senseless heart was darkened. ²² Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, ²³ and traded the glory of the incorruptible God for the likeness of an image of corruptible man, and of birds, and four-footed animals, and creeping things. ²⁴ Therefore God also gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to uncleanness, that their bodies should be dishonored among themselves, ²⁵ who exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Vstopil je in sedel. 38 Ko je farizej to videl, se je čudil, da se pred jedjo ni umil. 39 Gospod pa mu je rekel: »Vi farizeji sicer res čistite kozarec in krožnik od zunaj, znotraj pa ste polni pohlepa in hudobije. 40 Kako ste nespametni!
