38 John said to him, “Teacher, we saw someone who doesn’t follow us casting out demons in your name; and we forbade him, because he doesn’t follow us.”
39 But Jesus said, “Don’t forbid him, for there is no one who will do a mighty work in my name, and be able quickly to speak evil of me.
40 For whoever is not against us is on our side.
41 For whoever will give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because you are Christ’s, most assuredly I tell you, he will in no way lose his reward.
42 Whoever will cause one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it would be better for him if he was thrown into the sea with a millstone hung around his neck.
43 If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life maimed, rather than having your two hands to go into Gehenna, Gehenna is a word for Hell that originated as the name for a place where live babies were thrown crying into the fire under the arms of the idol, Moloch, to die. This place was so despised by the people after the righteous King Josiah abolished this hideous practice, that not only was it made into a garbage heap, but dead bodies of diseased animals and executed criminals were thrown there and burned. into the unquenchable fire,
45 If your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter into life lame, rather than having your two feet to be cast into Gehenna, into the fire that will never be quenched—
47 If your eye causes you to stumble, cast it out. It is better for you to enter into the Kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the Gehenna of fire,
48 ‘where their worm doesn’t die, and the fire is not quenched.’

42 »Kdor pohujša enega od teh malih, ki verujejo vame, bi bilo bolje zanj, da bi mu obesili mlinski kamen na vrat in ga vrgli v morje. 43 Če te tvoja roka pohujšuje, jo odsekaj! Bolje je zate, da prideš pohabljen v življenje, kakor da bi imel obe roki, pa bi prišel v peklensko dolino, v neugasljivi ogenj.

26 But there remained two men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the Spirit rested on them; and they were of those who were written, but had not gone out to the Tent; and they prophesied in the camp.
27 There ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp.
28 Joshua the son of Nun, the minister of Moses, one of his chosen men, answered, My lord Moses, forbid them.
29 Moses said to him, Are you jealous for my sake? would that all Yahweh’s people were prophets, that Yahweh would put his Spirit on them!

| 25 GOSPOD je stopil dol v oblaku in govoril z njim. Nato je vzel od duha, ki je bil nad njim, in ga dal nad sedemdeset starešin. Ko je duh obstal nad njimi, so začeli prerokovati. A pozneje tega niso več delali.

4 Behold, the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you have kept back by fraud, cry out, and the cries of those who reaped have entered into the ears of the Lord of Armies.
5 You have lived delicately on the earth, and taken your pleasure. You have nourished your hearts as in a day of slaughter.

Med človekom, ki se je pred nedavnim spreobrnil k veri v Kristusa,
in njegovim neverujočim prijateljem je potekal tale pogovor:
“Torej si začel verovati v Kristusa?”
“Da.”
“Potem pa gotovo veliko veš o Njem. Povej mi, v kateri deželi se je rodil.”
“Ne vem.”
“Koliko je bil star, ko je umrl?”
“Ne vem.”
“Koliko pridig je imel?”
“Ne vem.”
“Presneto malo veš za človeka, ki trdi, da je začel verovati v Kristusa!”
“Prav imaš. Sram me je, ker tako malo vem o Njem. Vem pa tole: Pred tremi leti sem bil pijanec; bil sem v dolgovih; družina mi je razpadla; žena in otroci so se vsak večer bali mojega prihoda domov. Zdaj pa sem opustil pijačo; rešili smo se dolgov, naš dom je zdaj srečen in otroci vsak večer željno pričakujejo, da se vrnem domov. Vse to je zame storil Kristus. To pa vem o Njem!”
Vera se mora nujno poznati v življenju, sicer ni prava. Mnogi z besedami priznavajo, da verujejo v Boga, a njihovo življenje tega ne kaže. Njihova vera prav nič ne vpliva na življenje. Živijo, kakor da Boga ni.
Vera, če je prava, prevzame vsega človeka. Vsaka njegova misel, beseda in dejanje, vse je z njo zaznamovano. 
Kardinal Newman uči: “Vera…prežema vse naše duševno življenje, prepaja naše mišljenje, hrepenenje, čustvovanje, namene, poskuse in dela, povezuje vse v eno, preoblikuje vsega človeka v svoje orodje in ga usposablja za sveto in milostno službo, za utelešeno, doživljenjsko dejavno vero, za sveto in pravo daritev, ki je Bogu všeč.”
Mati Terezija, ki je s svojim nesebičnim življenjem nazorno pokazala, kakšna je prava vera, je dejala:
“Vera v dejanju je ljubezen in ljubezen v dejanju je služenje.”

12 They shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow to the goodness of Yahweh, to the grain, and to the new wine, and to the oil, and to the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.
13 Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old together; for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.
