18 For the Chief Musician. By David the servant of Yahweh, who spoke to Yahweh the words of this song in the day that Yahweh delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul. He said, 1 I love you, Yahweh, my strength. 2 Yahweh is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower. 3 I call on Yahweh, who is worthy to be praised; And I am saved from my enemies. 4 The cords of death surrounded me. The floods of ungodliness made me afraid. 5 The cords of Sheol were round about me; The snares of death came on me. 6 In my distress I called on Yahweh, And cried to my God. He heard my voice out of his temple, My cry before him came into his ears. 7 Then the earth shook and trembled. The foundations also of the mountains quaked and were shaken, Because he was angry. 8 Smoke went out of his nostrils. Consuming fire came out of his mouth. Yes, he soared on the wings of the wind. 11 He made darkness his hiding-place, his pavilion around him, Darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies. 12 At the brightness before him his thick clouds passed, Hailstones and coals of fire. 13 Yahweh also thundered in the sky, The Most High uttered his voice: Hailstones and coals of fire. 14 He sent out his arrows, and scattered them; Yes, great lightning bolts, and routed them. 15 Then the channels of waters appeared, The foundations of the world were laid bare at your rebuke, Yahweh, At the blast of the breath of your nostrils. 16 He sent from on high. He took me. He drew me out of many waters. 17 He delivered me from my strong enemy, From those who hated me; for they were too mighty for me. 18 They came on me in the day of my calamity, But Yahweh was my support. 19 He brought me forth also into a large place. He delivered me, because he delighted in me. 20 Yahweh has rewarded me according to my righteousness. According to the cleanness of my hands has he recompensed me. 21 For I have kept the ways of Yahweh, And have not wickedly departed from my God. 22 For all his ordinances were before me. I didn’t put away his statutes from me. 23 I was also blameless with him. I kept myself from my iniquity. 24 Therefore Yahweh has rewarded me according to my righteousness, According to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight. 25 With the merciful you will show yourself merciful. With the perfect man, you will show yourself perfect. 26 With the pure, you will show yourself pure. With the crooked you will show yourself shrewd. 27 For you will save the afflicted people, But the haughty eyes you will bring down. 28 For you will light my lamp, Yahweh. My God will light up my darkness. 29 For by you, I advance through a troop. By my God, I leap over a wall. 30 As for God, his way is perfect. The word of Yahweh is tried. He is a shield to all those who take refuge in him. 31 For who is God, except Yahweh? Who is a rock, besides our God, 32 The God who arms me with strength, and makes my way perfect? 33 He makes my feet like deer’s feet, And sets me on my high places. 34 He teaches my hands to war; So that my arms bend a bow of bronze. 35 You have also given me the shield of your salvation. Your right hand sustains me. Your gentleness has made me great. 36 You have enlarged my steps under me, My feet have not slipped. 37 I will pursue my enemies, and overtake them. Neither will I turn again until they are consumed. 38 I will strike them through, so that they will not be able to rise. They shall fall under my feet. 39 For you have girded me with strength to the battle. You have subdued under me those who rose up against me. 40 You have also made my enemies turn their backs to me, That I might cut off those who hate me. 41 They cried, but there was none to save; Even to Yahweh, but he didn’t answer them. 42 Then I beat them small as the dust before the wind. I cast them out as the mire of the streets. 43 You have delivered me from the strivings of the people. You have made me the head of the nations. A people whom I have not known shall serve me. 44 As soon as they hear of me they shall obey me. The foreigners shall submit themselves to me. 45 The foreigners shall fade away, And shall come trembling out of their close places. 46 Yahweh lives; and blessed be my rock. Exalted be the God of my salvation, 47 Even the God who executes vengeance for me, And subdues peoples under me. 48 He rescues me from my enemies. Yes, you lift me up above those who rise up against me. You deliver me from the violent man. 49 Therefore I will give thanks to you, Yahweh, among the nations, And will sing praises to your name. 50 He gives great deliverance to his king, And shows loving kindness to his anointed, To David and to his seed, forevermore.

Carigrajski patriarh sv. Janez Zlatousti govori o trajnem dviganju duha k Bogu,
kar kaže posebno odprtost za Boga in vodi k združenju z Njim.:
“Ni dovolj, da dvigamo Duha k Bogu samo v času globoke molitve, temveč tudi ko opravljamo kakršnokoli dolžnost. Naj oskrbujemo revne ali se posvečamo bližnjemu ali kaj koristnega delamo, vedno imejmo svoje želje pri Bogu in mislimo nanj.
Tako bodo naša dela, povezana z ljubeznijo do Boga, kakor dobro začinjena hrana všeč Gospodu vesolja. Tako bomo uživali sadove združenja z njim vse življenje, ko bomo večino svojega časa posvetili njemu.”
Kristjani verujemo, da je Jezus na poseben način navzoč v evharistični skrivnosti.
Da se bomo tam z njim srečevali, se je treba z njim srečevati v vsakdanji molitvi. Ako je Bog naše središče, bodo naše misli pogosto pri Njem. Nanj se bomo obračali z zahvalo. Prosili ga bomo v različnih težavah.
Na sveto daritev se je treba pripraviti. Sadovi so odvisni predvsem od priprave. Splošna priprava je vse naše življenje. Pogoj je, da se trudimo, da bi bilo naravnano na Boga in na bližnjega. Iz izkušnje vemo, da pogosto ni tako. Zato je zelo koristna in potrebna posebna priprava, ki je prvenstveno v naši molitvi.
Za dobro molitev potrebujemo vsaj nekaj samote, predvsem notranjo samoto. To je takrat, ko v naših mislih in v domišljiji ni drugih oseb in stvari, temveč smo sami s svojim Bogom. 
V pomoč nam je svet prostor, cerkev, kapela. Zato je zelo koristno, da pridemo k maši nekoliko pred začetkom, da se umirimo, zberemo in zavemo, da smo pred Bogom.
Vprašanje odprtosti našega srca za Boga je vprašanje naše ljubezni do Njega. Bog nam je vedno blizu, naj se tega zavedamo ali ne. Le mi smo pogosto od Boga zelo oddaljeni, nismo odprti zanj.
Potrebno bi bilo, da bi se večkrat spomnili na Božjo navzočnost in dejavnost. Bog nam je bolj blizu kakor mi hočemo. Vedno ga lahko nagovorimo. Ako ne verujemo v Božjo navzočnost, molitev sploh ni možna. Tako je zavedanje Božje navzočnosti naše prvo dejanje pri molitvi.
Ko se postavimo v Božjo navzočnost, smo pripravljeni Boga poslušati in se ga s ponižno ljubeznijo oklepati.
Zelo dobra priprava na mašno daritev je premišljevalna molitev.
Pri njej ni poudarek na besedah, ampak na notranji dejavnosti, na mišljenju, čustvovanju, ljubezni. Prav bi bilo, da bi ustne molitve prehajale v premišljevalne. To je možno, če se naš duh in naše srce posebej ustavita ob kaki misli, ki nas zadene in gane.
Mašna daritev je najvišja oblika molitve in je več kot molitev.
Čim boljše bodo naše vsakdanje molitve, tem boljše bo naše molitveno sodelovanje pri sveti daritvi.

2 Those who have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brothers, but rather let them serve them, because those who partake of the benefit are believing and beloved. Teach and exhort these things.
3 If anyone teaches a different doctrine, and doesn’t consent to sound words, the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness,
4 he is conceited, knowing nothing, but obsessed with arguments, disputes, and word battles, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions,
5 constant friction of people of corrupt minds and destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain. Withdraw yourself from such.
6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7 For we brought nothing into the world, and we certainly can’t carry anything out.
8 But having food and clothing, we will be content with that.
9 But those who are determined to be rich fall into a temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful lusts, such as drown men in ruin and destruction.
10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
11 But you, man of God, flee these things, and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, and gentleness.
12 Fight the good fight of faith. Lay hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and you confessed the good confession in the sight of many witnesses.

| 2 Tisti pa, ki imajo verne gospodarje, naj jih že zato, ker so bratje, ne prezirajo. Nasprotno, naj jim še bolj zavzeto služijo, saj so ti, ki so deležni njihove oskrbe, verni in ljubljeni.
Lažni nauk in resnično bogastvo
To úči in priporočaj. 3 Če kdo uči drugačen nauk in se ne približuje zdravim besedam, namreč besedam našega Gospoda Jezusa Kristusa, in res pobožnemu nauku, 4 je domišljav in ničesar ne razume. Še več, tak boleha za razpravljanji in pričkanji za besedo. Iz tega pa izvirajo nevoščljivost, prepir, kletve in zlobna sumničenja, 5 prerekanje ljudi, ki so v umu pokvarjeni in oropani resnice ter mislijo, da je pobožnost le vir dobička. 6 Res je prava pobožnost velik dobiček, a le za tistega, ki je zadovoljen z najnujnejšim. 7 Ničesar namreč nismo prinesli na svet, zato tudi ne moremo ničesar odnesti. 8 Bodimo torej zadovoljni s tem, da imamo živež in obleko. 9 Tisti pa, ki hočejo obogateti, padajo v skušnjavo in zanko, to je v mnoge nespametne in škodljive želje, ki ljudi pogrezajo v pogubo in uničenje. 10 Korenina vsega zla je namreč pohlep po denarju. Po tem so nekateri hlepeli in tako zablodili proč od vere, s tem pa sami sebi zadali veliko bolečin.
Dobri boj za vero
11 Ti pa, Božji človek, béži pred tem. Prizadevaj si za pravičnost, pravo pobožnost, za vero, ljubezen, stanovitnost in krotkost. 12 Bojuj dober boj vere, sezi po večnem življenju, v katerega si bil poklican in si to lepo izpovedal pred mnogimi pričami.
