27 By David. 1 Yahweh is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear? Yahweh is the strength of my life. Of whom shall I be afraid? 2 When evil-doers came at me to eat up my flesh, Even my adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell. 3 Though an army should encamp against me, My heart shall not fear. Though war should rise against me, Even then I will be confident. 4 One thing I have asked of Yahweh, that I will seek after, That I may dwell in the house of Yahweh all the days of my life, To see Yahweh’s beauty, And to inquire in his temple. 5 For in the day of trouble he will keep me secretly in his pavilion. In the covert of his tent he will hide me. He will lift me up on a rock. 6 Now my head will be lifted up above my enemies around me. I will offer sacrifices of joy in his tent. I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to Yahweh. 7 Hear, Yahweh, when I cry with my voice. Have mercy also on me, and answer me. 8 When you said, “Seek my face,” My heart said to you, “I will seek your face, Yahweh.” 9 Don’t hide your face from me. Don’t put your servant away in anger. You have been my help. Don’t abandon me, Neither forsake me, God of my salvation. 10 When my father and my mother forsake me, Then Yahweh will take me up. 11 Teach me your way, Yahweh. Lead me in a straight path, because of my enemies. 12 Don’t deliver me over to the desire of my adversaries, For false witnesses have risen up against me, Such as breathe out cruelty. 13 I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of Yahweh in the land of the living. 14 Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh.

42 Watch therefore, for you don’t know in what hour your Lord comes.
43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch of the night the thief was coming, he would have watched, and would not have allowed his house to be broken into.
44 Therefore also be ready, for in an hour that you don’t expect, the Son of Man will come.
45 “Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his lord has set over his household, to give them their food in due season?
46 Blessed is that servant whom his lord finds doing so when he comes.
47 Most assuredly I tell you that he will set him over all that he has.
48 But if that evil servant should say in his heart, ‘My lord is delaying his coming,’
49 and begins to beat his fellow-servants, and eat and drink with the drunken,
50 the lord of that servant will come in a day when he doesn’t expect it, and in an hour when he doesn’t know it,
51 and will cut him in pieces, and appoint his portion with the hypocrites; there is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.

43 Vedite pa, da bi bil hišni gospodar buden, če bi vedel, ob kateri straži pride tat, in ne bi pustil vlomiti v svojo hišo. 44 Zato bodite tudi vi pripravljeni, kajti ob uri, ko ne pričakujete, bo prišel Sin človekov.«

45 »Kdo je torej zvesti in preudarni služabnik, ki ga je gospodar postavil nad svojo služinčad, da ji ob pravem času da živež? 46 Blagor tistemu služabniku, ki ga bo njegov gospodar ob svojem prihodu našel, da tako dela! 47 Resnično, povem vam: Čez vse svoje premoženje ga bo postavil. 48 Če pa ta pokvarjeni služabnik reče v svojem srcu: ›Moj gospod zamuja‹ 49 in začne pretepati soslužabnike ter jé in popiva s pijanci, 50 bo gospodar tega služabnika prišel na dan, ko ga ne pričakuje, in ob uri, za katero ne ve, 51 in ga bo presekal na dvoje ter mu dal delež s hinavci; tam bo jok in škripanje z zobmi.«

7 for this cause, brothers, we were comforted over you in all our distress and affliction through your faith.
8 For now we live, if you stand fast in the Lord.
9 For what thanksgiving can we render again to God for you, for all the joy with which we rejoice for your sakes before our God;
10 night and day praying exceedingly that we may see your face, and may perfect that which is lacking in your faith?
11 Now may our God and Father himself, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way to you;
12 and the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we also do toward you,
13 to the end he may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints.

| 7 Zato, bratje, ste nas s svojo vero potolažili v vsej naši bridkosti in stiski. 8 Saj zdaj spet živimo, da le vi stojite trdno v Gospodu. 9 Le kako naj se zahvalimo Bogu glede vas za vse veselje, ki ga zaradi vas čutimo pred našim Bogom? 10 Noč in dan prosimo z vso gorečnostjo, da bi mogli videti vaše obličje in dopolniti, kar še manjka vaši veri.
11 Sam Bog pa in naš Oče ter naš Gospod Jezus naj usmeri našo pot k vam. 12 Vam pa naj Gospod nakloni rast in preobilje v ljubezni, s katero ljubite drug drugega in vse, prav kakor jo čutimo mi do vas, 13 da bi tako utrdil vaša srca, da bodo neoporečna v svetosti pred Bogom in našim Očetom, ko pride naš Gospod Jezus z vsemi svojimi svetimi. Have compassion on your servants!
14 Satisfy us in the morning with your loving kindness,
That we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
17 Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us;
Establish the work of our hands for us;
Yes, establish the work of our hands.

4 Zakaj v tvojih očeh je tisoč let
kakor včerajšnji dan, ki je minil,
