1 He called to himself his twelve disciples, and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every sickness.
2 Now the names of the twelve apostles are these. The first, Simon, who is called Peter; Andrew, his brother; James the son of Zebedee; John, his brother;
3 Philip; Bartholomew; Thomas; Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus; and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;
4 Simon the Canaanite; and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.
5 Jesus sent these twelve out, and charged them, saying, “Don’t go among the Gentiles, and don’t enter into any city of the Samaritans.
6 Rather, go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
7 As you go, preach, saying, ‘The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!’

Jezus pošlje dvanajstere
1 Poklical je k sebi svojih dvanajst učencev in jim dal oblast nad nečistimi duhovi, tako da so jih izganjali in ozdravljali vsako bolezen in vsako slabost. 2 Imena dvanajstih apostolov pa so: prvi Simon, imenovan Peter, in njegov brat Andrej; Jakob, Zebedejev sin, in njegov brat Janez; 3 Filip in Bartolomej; Tomaž in cestninar Matej; Jakob, Alfejev sin, in Tadej; 4 Simon Kananej in Juda Iškarijot, ki ga je izdal.

55 Ko je tudi vsa egiptovska dežela trpela lakoto, je ljudstvo vpilo k faraonu za kruh. Faraon pa je rekel vsem Egipčanom: »Pojdite k Jožefu; kar vam poreče, to storite!« 56 Ko je po vsej deželi nastopila lakota, je Jožef odprl vse žitnice in prodajal žito Egipčanom. Lakota pa je vedno huje pritiskala po egiptovski deželi.
57 Ves svet je hodil v Egipt k Jožefu kupovat žito; kajti lakota je hudo pritiskala po vsej zemlji.

5 The sons of Israel came to buy among those who came, for the famine was in the land of Canaan.
6 Joseph was the governor over the land. It was he who sold to all the people of the land. Joseph’s brothers came, and bowed themselves down to him with their faces to the earth.
7 Joseph saw his brothers, and he recognized them, but acted like a stranger to them, and spoke roughly with them. He said to them, “Where did you come from?”
They said, “From the land of Canaan to buy food.”
17 He put them all together into custody three days.
18 Joseph said to them the third day, “Do this, and live, for I fear God.
19 If you are honest men, then let one of your brothers be bound in your prison-house; but you go, carry grain for the famine of your houses.
20 Bring your youngest brother to me; so will your words be verified, and you won’t die.”
They did so.
21 They said one to another, “We are most assuredly guilty concerning our brother, in that we saw the distress of his soul, when he begged us, and we wouldn’t listen. Therefore this distress has come on us.”
22 Reuben answered them, saying, “Didn’t I tell you, saying, ‘Don’t sin against the child,’ and you wouldn’t listen? Therefore also, behold, his blood is required.”
23 They didn’t know that Joseph understood them; for there was an interpreter between them.
24 He turned himself about from them, and wept, and he returned to them, and spoke to them, and took Simeon from among them, and bound him before their eyes.

5 Med drugimi, ki so prihajali kupovat žito, so prišli tudi Izraelovi sinovi, kajti lakota je bila v kánaanski deželi.
Jožef se prvič sreča z brati
6 Jožef je bil oblastnik v deželi in je prodajal žito vsemu ljudstvu. Jožefovi bratje so prišli in se priklonili pred njim z obrazom do tal. 7 Ko jih je Jožef videl, jih je spoznal, a se je delal tujca pred njimi in trdo govoril z njimi. Rekel jim je: »Od kod ste prišli?« Rekli so: »Iz kánaanske dežele kupovat živež.«

17 Potem jih je dal skupaj zapreti za tri dni. 18 Tretji dan jim je rekel: »To morate storiti, če hočete ostati živi. Bojim se Boga. 19 Če ste pošteni, naj ostane eden izmed vas ujetnik v hiši, kjer ste bili zaprti. Vi pa pojdite in nesite žito za svoje sestradane hiše; 20 potem pripeljite svojega najmlajšega brata k meni! Tako se bodo vaše besede izkazale za resnične in ne boste umrli.« In storili so tako.
21 Govorili so med seboj: »Resnično, pregrešili smo se nad svojim bratom, saj smo videli stisko njegove duše, ko nas je prosil usmiljenja, pa nismo poslušali; zato je prišla ta stiska nad nas.«
22 Ruben jim je odgovoril in rekel: »Ali vam nisem rekel: ›Ne pregrešite se nad otrokom!‹ Pa niste hoteli poslušati. Zdaj se od nas terja njegova kri.«
23 Niso pa vedeli, da Jožef razume, ker je z njimi govoril po tolmaču. 24 Obrnil se je proč od njih in se razjokal. Potem se je vrnil k njim in jim govoril.
Bratje se vrnejo v Kánaan
Vzel je izmed njih Simeona in ga dal zvezati pred njihovimi očmi.

Sing praises to him with the harp of ten strings.
3 Sing to him a new song.
Play skillfully with a shout of joy!
10 Yahweh brings the counsel of the nations to nothing.
He makes the thoughts of the peoples to be of no effect.
11 The counsel of Yahweh stands fast forever,
The thoughts of his heart to all generations.
18 Behold, Yahweh’s eye is on those who fear him,
On those who hope in his loving kindness;
19 To deliver their soul from death,
To keep them alive in famine.

2 zahvaljujte se GOSPODU s citrami,
na harfo desetih strun mu igrajte;
3 pojte mu novo pesem,
dobro igrajte ob vzklikanju.

10 GOSPOD podira namere narodov,
zametuje načrte ljudstev.
11 GOSPODOV nasvet pa ostane na veke,
misli njegovega srca za vse rodove.

18 Glej, GOSPODOVO oko je na tistih, ki se ga bojijo,
na tistih, ki pričakujejo njegovo dobroto,
19 da reši smrti njihovo dušo
in jih oživlja v lakoti.
