31 Therefore the Jews, because it was the Preparation Day, so that the bodies wouldn’t remain on the cross on the Sabbath , asked of Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
32 Therefore the soldiers came, and broke the legs of the first, and of the other who was crucified with him;
33 but when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was already dead, they didn’t break his legs.
34 However one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out.
35 He who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, that you may believe.
36 For these things happened, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, “A bone of him will not be broken.”
37 Again another Scripture says, “They will look on him whom they pierced.”

Vojak prebode Jezusovo stran
31 Ker je bil dan pripravljanja in zato, da telesa čez soboto ne bi ostala na križu (kajti tisto soboto je bil velik praznik), so Judje prosili Pilata, naj bi jim strli noge in jih sneli. 32 Prišli so torej vojaki in strli noge prvemu in drugemu, ki sta bila križana z Jezusom. 33 Ko so prišli do Jezusa in videli, da je že mrtev, mu niso strli nog, 34 ampak mu je eden izmed vojakov s sulico prebodel stran in takoj sta pritekli kri in voda. 35 Tisti, ki je videl, je pričeval in njegovo pričevanje je resnično. On ve, da govori resnico, da bi tudi vi verovali. 36 To se je namreč zgodilo, da se je izpolnilo Pismo: Nobena izmed njegovih kosti se ne bo zlomila. 37 In spet drugo Pismo pravi: 
Gledali bodo vanj, ki so ga prebodli.

1 “When Israel was a child, then I loved him,
And called my son out of Egypt.
3 Yet I taught Ephraim to walk.
I took them by his arms;
But they didn’t know that I healed them.
4 I drew them with cords of a man, with ties of love;
And I was to them like those who lift up the yoke on their necks;
And I bent down to him and I fed him.
8 “How can I give you up, Ephraim?
How can I hand you over, Israel?
How can I make you like Admah?
How can I make you like Zeboiim?
My heart is turned within me,
My compassion is aroused.
9 I will not execute the fierceness of my anger.
I will not return to destroy Ephraim:
For I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of you;
And I will not come in wrath.

Bog ljubi in vzgaja kakor oče
1 Ko je bil Izrael mlad, sem ga ljubil,
iz Egipta sem poklical svojega sina.
|
3 Jaz sam sem Efrájima učil hoditi,
jemal sem jih na svoje lakte,
pa niso spoznali, da skrbim zanje.
4 Pritegoval sem jih s človeškimi vezmi,
z vrvicami ljubezni,
bil sem jim kakor tisti,
ki si vzdigujejo otroka k licu,
počasi sem mu dajal jesti.

8 Kako bi te mogel dati drugemu, Efrájim,
kako bi te mogel izročiti drugemu, Izrael!
Kako bi te mogel dati kakor Admo,
te izročiti kakor Cebojím!
Moje srce se obrača v meni,
moje sočutje prekipeva.
9 Ne bom storil po svoji srditi jezi,
ne bom zvrnil Efrájima v pogubo,
kajti Bog sem in ne človek,
Sveti sem v tvoji sredi
in ne prihajam v mesto.
Glej, Bog je moja rešitev,
zaupam in se ne bojim,
kajti moja moč in moja pesem je GOSPOD BOG,
bil je moja rešitev.
3 Z veseljem boste zajemali vodo iz studencev odrešenja. 4 Tisti dan boste rekli:
Zahvaljujte se GOSPODU,
kličite njegovo ime,
oznanjajte med narodi njegova dela,
razglašajte, da je vzvišeno njegovo ime.
5 Pojte GOSPODU, ker je storil velika dela,
naj bodo znana po vsej zemlji.
6 Zaukaj in zavriskaj, ki prebivaš na Sionu,
ker je velik v tvoji sredi Sveti Izraelov.

8 To me, the very least of all saints, was this grace given, to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,
9 and to make all men see what is the administration TR reads “fellowship” instead of “administration” of the mystery which for ages has been hidden in God, who created all things through Jesus Christ;
10 to the intent that now through the assembly the manifold wisdom of God might be made known to the principalities and the powers in the heavenly places,
11 according to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord;
12 in whom we have boldness and access in confidence through our faith in him.
14 For this cause, I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,
16 that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that you may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inward man;
17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; to the end that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 may be strengthened to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
19 and to know Christ’s love which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

| 8 Meni, najmanjšemu izmed vseh svetih, je bila dana milost, da oznanjam poganom neizsledljivo Kristusovo bogastvo, 9 da vse razsvetlim glede skrivnostnega načrta, ki je bil od vekov skrit v Bogu, stvarniku vsega. 10 Tako naj bi se zdaj po Cerkvi oznanila vladarstvom in oblastem v nebesih mnogovrstna Božja modrost, 11 in sicer po večnem načrtu, ki ga je Bog izpeljal v Kristusu Jezusu, našem Gospodu. 12 V njem imamo srčnost in dostop v popolnem zaupanju po veri vanj. |
Spoznajte Kristusovo ljubezen
14 Zato upogibam svoja kolena pred Očetom, 15 po katerem se imenuje vsakršno očetovstvo v nebesih in na zemlji, 16 naj vam dá po bogastvu svojega veličastva, da se po njegovem Duhu močno utrdite v notranjem človeku. 17 Naj Kristus po veri prebiva v vaših srcih, da bi tako, ukoreninjeni in utemeljeni v ljubezni, 18 mogli z vsemi svetimi doumeti, kolikšna je širokost in dolgost in visočina in globočina 19 ter spoznati Kristusovo ljubezen, ki presega spoznanje, da bi se izpolnili do vse Božje polnosti.
