11 I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, keep them through your name which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are.
12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in your name. Those whom you have given me I have kept. None of them is lost, except the son of destruction, that the Scripture might be fulfilled.
13 But now I come to you, and I say these things in the world, that they may have my joy made full in themselves.
14 I have given them your word. The world hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
15 I pray not that you would take them from the world, but that you would keep them from the evil one.
16 They are not of the world even as I am not of the world.
17 Sanctify them in your truth. Your word is truth.
18 As you sent me into the world, even so I have sent them into the world.
19 For their sakes I sanctify myself, that they themselves also may be sanctified in truth.

11 Nisem več na svetu; oni so na svetu, jaz pa odhajam k tebi. Sveti Oče, ohrani jih v svojem imenu, ki si mi ga dal, da bodo eno kakor midva. 12 Dokler sem bil z njimi, sem jih varoval v tvojem imenu, ki si mi ga dal. Obvaroval sem jih in nobeden izmed njih se ni pogubil, razen sina pogubljenja, da se izpolni Pismo. 13 Zdaj odhajam k tebi, vendar to govorim na svetu, da bodo imeli moje veselje v sebi dopolnjeno. 14 Izročil sem jim tvojo besedo, svet pa jih je zasovražil, ker niso od sveta, kakor jaz nisem od sveta. 15 Ne prosim, da jih vzameš s sveta, ampak da jih obvaruješ hudega. 16 Niso od sveta, kakor jaz nisem od sveta. 17 Posveti jih v resnici; tvoja beseda je resnica. 
18 Kakor si mene poslal na svet, sem tudi jaz njih poslal v svet, 19 in zanje se posvečujem, da bi bili tudi oni posvečeni v resnici.

15 In these days, Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples , and said,
16 “Brothers, it was necessary that this Scripture should be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who was guide to those who took Jesus.
17 For he was numbered with us, and received his portion in this ministry.
20 For it is written in the book of Psalms,
‘Let his habitation be made desolate,
Let no one dwell therein,’
and,
‘Let another take his office.’

21 Of the men therefore who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,
22 beginning from the baptism of John, to the day that he was received up from us, of these one must become a witness with us of his resurrection.”
23 They put forward two, Joseph called Barsabbas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.
24 They prayed, and said, “You, Lord, who know the hearts of all men, show which one of these two you have chosen
25 to take part in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas fell away, that he might go to his own place.”
26 They drew lots for them, and the lot fell on Matthias, and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

15 V tistih dneh je Peter vstal sredi bratov, zbrala se je skupina kakih sto dvajset ljudi, in rekel: 16 »Bratje! Moralo se je izpolniti Pismo, kakor je Sveti Duh napovedal po Davidovih ustih o Judu: postal je vodnik tistih, ki so zgrabili Jezusa. 17 Bil je prištet med nas in deležen naše službe.

| 20 V knjigi psalmov je namreč pisano:
Njegovo bivališče naj postane puščava,
nihče naj v njem ne prebiva.
In dalje:
Njegovo službo naj prevzame kdo drug.
21 Tu so možje, ki so hodili z nami ves čas, dokler je Gospod Jezus prihajal k nam in odhajal od nas, 22 od Janezovega krsta do dne, ko je bil vzet od nas. Eden od njih mora biti z nami priča njegovega vstajenja!« 23 Predlagali so dva, Jožefa, ki se je imenoval Bársaba, z vzdevkom Just, in Matija. 24 Nato so takóle molili: »Gospod, ti poznaš srca vseh, pokaži, katerega od teh dveh si izbral, 25 naj prevzame mesto v tej službi in apostolstvo, od katerega je odpadel Juda, da je šel na svoj kraj!« 26 In žrebali so, žreb pa je določil Matija, in pridružili so ga enajstim apostolom.

11 Zakaj kakor je nebo visoko nad zemljo,
je njegova dobrota silna nad tistimi, ki se ga bojijo.
12 Kakor je vzhod oddaljen od zahoda,
oddaljuje od nas naša hudodelstva.

19 GOSPOD je postavil svoj prestol v nebesih,
njegovo kraljestvo vlada nad vesoljstvom.
20 Slavite GOSPODA, njegovi angeli,
vi, silni junaki, ki izpolnjujete njegovo besedo

11 Beloved, if God loved us in this way, we also ought to love one another.
12 No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God remains in us, and his love has been perfected in us.
13 By this we know that we remain in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.
14 We have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as the Savior of the world.
15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God remains in him, and he in God.
16 We know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and he who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him.

11 Ljubi, če nas je Bog tako vzljubil, smo se tudi mi dolžni ljubiti med seboj. 12 Boga ni nikoli nihče videl. Če se med seboj ljubimo, ostaja Bog v nas in je njegova ljubezen v nas postala popolna.
13 Po tem spoznavamo, da ostajamo v njem in on v nas: dal nam je od svojega Duha. 14 In mi smo ga gledali in pričujemo, da je Oče poslal Sina za odrešenika sveta. 15 Kdor priznava, da je Jezus Božji Sin, ostaja Bog v njem in on v Bogu. 16 Mi smo spoznali ljubezen, ki jo ima Bog do nas, in verujemo vanjo.
Bog je ljubezen, in tisti, ki ostaja v ljubezni, ostaja v Bogu in Bog ostaja v njem.

23 “In that day you will ask me no questions. Most assuredly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.
24 Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full.
25 I have spoken these things to you in figures of speech. But the time is coming when I will no more speak to you in figures of speech, but will tell you plainly about the Father.
26 In that day you will ask in my name; and I don’t say to you, that I will pray to the Father for you,
27 for the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me, and have believed that I came forth from God.
28 I came out from the Father, and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.”

23 Having spent some time there, he departed, and went through the region of Galatia, and Phrygia, in order, establishing all the disciples.
24 Now a certain Jew named Apollos, an Alexandrian by race, an eloquent man, came to Ephesus. He was mighty in the Scriptures.
25 This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, although he knew only the baptism of John.
26 He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. But when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside, and explained to him the way of God more accurately.
27 When he had determined to pass over into Achaia, the brothers encouraged him, and wrote to the disciples to receive him. When he had come, he greatly helped those who had believed through grace;
28 for he powerfully refuted the Jews, publicly showing by the Scriptures that Jesus was the Christ.

| 23 Tam je ostal nekaj časa, nato pa je po vrsti prehodil deželo Galačanov in Frigijo ter povsod utrjeval učence.
Apolo
24 Medtem je v Efez prišel Jud, ki mu je bilo ime Apolo in je bil po rodu iz Aleksandrije. Bil je izobražen in dober izvedenec v Pismih. 25 Tudi z Gospodovo potjo je bil seznanjen. Poln navdušenja je govoril in natančno pripovedoval o Jezusu; vendar je poznal samó Janezov krst. 26 Začel je pogumno oznanjati v shodnici. Prískila in Ákvila sta ga slišala, ga povabila k sebi in mu še podrobneje razložila Božjo pot. 27 Ko je nameraval odpotovati v Ahajo, so ga bratje spodbujali in pisali učencem, naj ga prijazno sprejmejo. Prišel je tja in po Božji milosti vernikom veliko koristil. 28 Z vso odločnostjo je namreč oporekal Judom in iz Pisem javno dokazoval, da je Jezus Mesija.
