21 One who has my commandments, and keeps them, that person is one who loves me. One who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will reveal myself to him.” ²² Judas said to him, “Lord, what has happened that you are about to reveal yourself to us, and not to the world?” ²³ Jesus answered him, “If a man loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him. ²⁴ He who doesn’t love me doesn’t keep my words. The word which you hear isn’t mine, but the Father’s who sent me. ²⁵ I have said these things to you, while still living with you. ²⁶ But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you.

21 Kdor ima moje zapovedi in se jih drži, ta me ljubi; kdor pa me ljubi, tega bo ljubil moj Oče, in tudi jaz ga bom ljubil in se mu razodel.« 22 Juda (ne Iškarijot) mu je rekel: »Gospod, kaj se je zgodilo, da se hočeš razodeti nam, ne pa svetu?« 23 Jezus je odgovoril in mu rekel: »Če me kdo ljubi, se bo držal moje besede in moj Oče ga bo ljubil. Prišla bova k njemu in prebivala pri njem. 24 Kdor me ne ljubi, se ne drži mojih besed; in beseda, ki jo slišite, ni moja, ampak od Očeta, ki me je poslal.

5 When some of both the Gentiles and the Jews, with their rulers, made a violent attempt to mistreat and stone them, ⁶ they became aware of it, and fled to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra, Derbe, and the surrounding region. ⁷ There they preached the Gospel. ⁸ At Lystra a certain man sat, impotent in his feet, a cripple from his mother’s womb, who never had walked. ⁹ He was listening to Paul speaking, who, fastening eyes on him, and seeing that he had faith to be made whole, ¹⁰ said with a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet!” He leaped up and walked. ¹¹ When the multitude saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voice, saying in the language of Lycaonia, “The gods have come down to us in the likeness of men!” ¹² They called Barnabas “Jupiter,” and Paul “Mercury,” because he was the chief speaker. ¹³ The priest of Jupiter, whose temple was in front of their city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, and would have made a sacrifice along with the multitudes. ¹⁴ But when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of it, they tore their clothes, and sprang into the multitude, crying out, ¹⁵ “Men, why are you doing these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and bring you good news, that you should turn from these vain things to the living God, who made the sky and the earth and the sea, and all that is in them; ¹⁶ who in the generations gone by allowed all the nations to walk in their own ways. ¹⁷ Yet he didn’t leave himself without witness, in that he did good and gave you TR reads “us” instead of “you” rains from the sky and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.” ¹⁸ Even saying these things, they hardly stopped the multitudes from making a sacrifice to them.

5 Tedaj so se pogani in Judje s svojimi voditelji namenili, da apostola  mučijo in kamnajo. 6 Apostola  sta to izvedela, zato sta se zatekla v mesta Likaonije – v Listro, Derbo in sosedne kraje – 7 in tam oznanjala evangelij.

8 V Listri je živel mož, ki ni imel moči v nogah; bil je že od rojstva hrom in nikoli ni mogel hoditi. 9 Sedèl je in poslušal Pavlove besede. Pavel ga je premeril z očmi, in ko je videl, da ima vero, ki bi ga lahko rešila, 10 mu je zaklical z močnim glasom: »Vstani! Postavi se na noge!« In mož  je poskočil in hodil. 11 Ko so množice videle, kaj je storil Pavel, so povzdignile glas in v likaonskem jeziku govorile: »Bogova v človeški podobi sta se spustila med nas.« 12 In Barnaba so imenovali Zevs, Pavla pa Hermes, ker je prvi spregovoril. 13 Svečenik Zevsovega svetišča, ki je bilo pred mestom, je dal pred vrata pripeljati bike in vence, ker je hotel z množico opraviti žrtvovanje. 14 Ko sta apostola Barnaba in Pavel to slišala, sta raztrgala svoja oblačila, planila med množico in zavpila: 15 »Možje, kaj počenjate? Tudi midva sva samo človeka, ki čutiva podobno kakor vi. Oznanjava vam evangelij, da bi se obrnili proč od teh ničevih reči k živemu Bogu, ki je naredil nebo in zemljo in morje in vse, kar je v njih. 16 V prejšnjih časih je dopuščal, da je vsak narod hodil svoja pota. 17 In vendar ob tem sebe ni pustil brez pričevanja, saj vam je izkazoval dobrote: z neba je pošiljal deževje in rodovitne čase, dajal vam je hrano in vam srca napolnjeval z veseljem.« 18 S temi besedami sta komaj ubranila množicam, da jima niso opravile žrtvenih daritev.

He does whatever he pleases. ⁴ Their idols are silver and gold, The work of men’s hands. ¹⁵ Blessed are you by Yahweh, Who made heaven and earth. ¹⁶ The heavens are the heavens of Yahweh; But the earth has he given to the children of men.
