16 Most assuredly I tell you, a servant is not greater than his lord, neither one who is sent greater than he who sent him. 17 If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them. 18 I don’t speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen. But that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘He who eats bread with me has lifted up his heel against me.’ 19 From now on, I tell you before it happens, that when it happens, you may believe that I AM. 20 Most assuredly I tell you, he who receives whomever I send, receives me; and he who receives me, receives him who sent me.”

13 Now Paul and his company set sail from Paphos, and came to Perga in Pamphylia. John departed from them and returned to Jerusalem. 14 But they, passing on from Perga, came to Antioch of Pisidia. They went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and sat down. 15 After the reading of the law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, “Brothers, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, speak.” 16 Paul stood up, and beckoning with his hand said, “Men of Israel, and you who fear God, listen. 17 The God of this people TR, NU add “Israel” chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they stayed as aliens in the land of Egypt, and with an uplifted arm, he led them out of it. 18 For a period of about forty years he put up with them in the wilderness. 19 When he had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, he gave them their land for an inheritance, for about four hundred fifty years. 20 After these things he gave them judges until Samuel the prophet. 21 Afterward they asked for a king, and God gave to them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years. 22 When he had removed him, he raised up David to be their king, to whom he also testified, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after my heart, who will do all my will.’ 23 From this man’s seed, God has brought salvation TR, NU read “a Savior, Jesus” instead of “salvation” to Israel according to his promise, 24 before his coming, when John had first preached the baptism of repentance to Israel. Pavel in Barnaba v Pizidiji
13 Pavel je s spremljevalcema odplul iz Pafosa in prispel v Pergo v Pamfiliji. Tu se je Janez ločil od njiju in se vrnil v Jeruzalem. 14 Ona dva pa sta iz Perge potovala naprej in prišla v pizidijsko Antiohijo. Na sobotni dan sta šla v shodnico in sedla. 15 Ko so prebrali postavo in preroke, so se načelniki shodnice obrnili k njima in rekli: »Brata, če imata kako spodbudno besedo za ljudstvo, povejta!« 16 Tedaj je Pavel vstal, dal znamenje z roko in rekel:
»Možje Izraelci in vi, ki se bojite Boga, poslušajte! 17 Bog tega izraelskega ljudstva je izvolil naše očete in poveličal ljudstvo v egiptovskem izgnanstvu ter ga z dvignjeno roko popeljal iz njega. 18 Kakih štirideset let jih je hranil v puščavi. 19 Pokončal je sedem narodov v kánaanski deželi in jim razdelil njihovo zemljo v dediščino. 20 To je trajalo približno štiristo petdeset let. Nato jim je dal sodnike do preroka Samuela. 21 Tedaj so si zaželeli kralja in Bog jim je dal Savla, Kiševega sina, moža iz Benjaminovega rodu, za štirideset let. 22 Ko ga je Bog zavrgel, jim je za kralja obudil Davida. O njem je sam potrdil: Našel sem Davida, Jesejevega sina, moža po svojem srcu, ki bo izpolnil vse, kar hočem. 23 Iz njegovega rodu je Bog, kakor je bil obljubil, poslal Izraelu odrešenika Jezusa, 24 ki ga je pred njegovim prihodom Janez s krstom pokore napovedoval vsemu izraelskemu ljudstvu. 25 Ko pa je Janez končaval svoj tek, je govoril: ›Mar mislite, da sem jaz? Jaz nisem. Toda glejte, za mano pride on, in jaz nisem vreden, da bi odvezal sandale z njegovih nog.‹

za vse rodove bom s svojimi usti oznanjal tvojo zvestobo.
3 Zakaj pravim: »Na veke se gradi dobrota,
nebesa, v njih si utrdil svojo zvestobo.«

21 Našel sem Davida, svojega služabnika,
s svojim svetim oljem sem ga mazilil,
22 da bi bila moja roka trdna z njim,
da bi ga krepil tudi moj laket.

25 Moja zvestoba in dobrota bosta z njim,
