31 Jesus therefore said to those Jews who had believed him, “If you remain in my word, then you are truly my disciples. 32 You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” 33 They answered him, “We are Abraham’s seed, and have never been in bondage to anyone. How do you say, ‘You will be made free?’” 34 Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly I tell you, everyone who commits sin is the bondservant of sin. 35 A bondservant doesn’t live in the house forever. A son remains forever. 36 If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed. 37 I know that you are Abraham’s seed, yet you seek to kill me, because my word finds no place in you. 38 I say the things which I have seen with my Father; and you also do the things which you have seen with your father.” 39 They answered him, “Our father is Abraham.” Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham’s children, you would do the works of Abraham. 40 But now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God. Abraham didn’t do this. 41 You do the works of your father.” They said to him, “We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father, God.” 42 Therefore Jesus said to them, “If God were your father, you would love me, for I came out and have come from God. For I haven’t come of myself, but he sent me.

Česa takega Abraham ni storil. 41 Vi opravljate dela svojega očeta.« Tedaj so mu rekli: »Mi se nismo rodili iz prešuštva; enega očeta imamo: Boga.« 42 Jezus jim je dejal: »Če bi bil Bog vaš Oče, bi me ljubili, ker sem iz Boga izšel in prišel. Nisem prišel sam od sebe, temveč me je on poslal.

34 By David; when he pretended to be insane before Abimelech, who drove him away, and he departed. 1 I will bless Yahweh at all times. His praise will always be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall boast in Yahweh. The humble shall hear of it, and be glad. 3 Oh magnify Yahweh with me. Let us exalt his name together. 4 I sought Yahweh, and he answered me, And delivered me from all my fears. 5 They looked to him, and were radiant. Their faces shall never be covered with shame. 6 This poor man cried, and Yahweh heard him, And saved him out of all his troubles. 7 The angel of Yahweh encamps round about those who fear him, And delivers them. 8 Oh taste and see that Yahweh is good. Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. 9 Oh fear Yahweh, you his saints, For there is no lack with those who fear him. 10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger, But those who seek Yahweh shall not lack any good thing. 11 Come, you children, listen to me. I will teach you the fear of Yahweh. 12 Who is someone who desires life, And loves many days, that he may see good? 13 Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking lies. 14 Depart from evil, and do good. Seek peace, and pursue it. 15 Yahweh’s eyes are toward the righteous. His ears listen to their cry. 16 Yahweh’s face is against those who do evil, To cut off the memory of them from the earth. 17 The righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles. 18 Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves those who have a crushed spirit. 19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But Yahweh delivers him out of them all. 20 He protects all of his bones. Not one of them is broken. 21 Evil shall kill the wicked. Those who hate the righteous shall be condemned. 22 Yahweh redeems the soul of his servants. None of those who take refuge in him shall be condemned.

strahu GOSPODOVEGA vas bom učil.

13 Kdo je mož, ki ima veselje nad življenjem,
ki ljubi dneve, da bi videl dobro?

14 Zadržuj svoj jezik od zla,
svoje ustnice od zvijačnega govorjenja.

15 Ogiblji se zla in delaj dobro,
išči mir in se zanj zavzemaj.

16 GOSPODOVE oči so uprte v pravične,
njegova ušesa v njihovo klicanje.

17 GOSPODOVO obličje je zoper hudodelce,
da izbriše z zemlje njihov spomin.

18 Vpili so, in GOSPOD je uslišal,
iz vseh njihovih stisk jih je rešil.

19 Blizu je GOSPOD tistim, ki so skrušenega srca,
in tiste, ki so potrtega duha, rešuje.

20 Veliko nesreč zadene pravičnega,
a iz vseh ga GOSPOD rešuje.

21 Varuje vse njegove kosti,
nobena izmed njih se ne bo zlomila.

22 Krivičnika bo usmrtila nesreča,
sovražnike pravičnega bo zadela krivda.
23 GOSPOD odkupuje duše svojih služabnikov,
nihče od teh, ki se zatekajo k njemu, si ne bo nakopal krivde.

14 Nebuchadnezzar answered them, Is it on purpose, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you don’t serve my god, nor worship the golden image which I have set up? 15 Now if you are ready whenever you hear the sound of the horn, flute, zither, lyre, harp, pipe, and all kinds of music to you fall down and worship the image which I have made, well: but if you don’t worship, you shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that god that shall deliver you out of my hands? 16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered the king, Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. 17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace; and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. 18 But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods, nor worship the golden image which you have set up. 19 Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spoke, and commanded that they should heat the furnace seven times more than it was wont to be heated. 20 He commanded certain mighty men who were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.

Nebukadnezar je spregovoril in jim rekel: »Ali je res, Šadráh, Mešáh in Abéd Negó, da ne služite mojim bogovom in ne molite zlate podobe, ki sem jo postavil? 15 Ali ste zdaj torej pripravljeni, da se vržete na tla in molite podobo, ki sem jo napravil, brž ko zaslišite glas roga, piščali, citer, harfe, psalterja, dipel in vseh vrst glasbil? Če je ne boste molili, vas bodo pri priči pahnili v gorečo, ognjeno peč; in kdo je tisti bog, ki bi vas rešil iz mojih rok?«

16 Šadráh, Mešáh in Abéd Negó so kralju Nebukadnezarju odgovorili in rekli: »Ne zdi se nam potrebno, da bi se tebi zaradi tega opravičevali. 17 Če nas naš Bog, ki ga častimo, more osvoboditi, nas bo rešil tudi iz goreče, ognjene peči in iz tvoje roke, o kralj. 18 Pa čeprav ne, vedi, o kralj, da ne bomo častili tvojih bogovne-bomo-castili-tvojih-bogov in ne bomo molili zlate podobe, ki si jo postavil.«
Mladeniči v ognjeni peči
19 Tedaj se je Nebukadnezar raztogotil in izraz njegovega obraza se je spremenil nasproti Šadráhu, Mešáhu in Abéd Negóju. Spregovoril je in rekel, naj peč sedemkrat bolj zakurijo, kakor so jo prej. 20 Najmočnejšim možem v svoji vojski pa je rekel, naj zvežejo Šadráha, Mešáha in Abéd Negója ter jih vržejo v gorečo, ognjeno peč.
