17 “Don’t think that I came to destroy the law or the prophets. I didn’t come to destroy, but to fulfill. ¹⁸ For most assuredly, I tell you, until heaven and earth pass away, not even one smallest letter literally, iota or one tiny pen stroke or, serif shall in any way pass away from the law, until all things are accomplished. ¹⁹ Whoever, therefore, shall break one of these least commandments, and teach others to do so, shall be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven; but whoever shall do and teach them shall be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.

4 ¹ But I say that so long as the heir is a child, he is no different from a bondservant, though he is lord of all; ⁵ that he might redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of children. ⁶ And because you are children, God sent out the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, “Abba, Abba is a Greek spelling for the Chaldee word for “Father” or “Daddy” used in a familiar, respectful, and loving way. Father!” ⁷ So you are no longer a bondservant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. ⁸ However at that time, not knowing God, you were in bondage to those who by nature are not gods. ⁹ But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, why do you turn back again to the weak and miserable elemental principles, to which you desire to be in bondage all over again?

1 Zdaj pa, Izrael, poslušaj zakone in odloke, katere vas učim izpolnjevati, da boste živeli in prišli in vzeli v last deželo, ki vam jo daje GOSPOD, Bog vaših očetov!

5 Glejte, učim vas zakone in odloke, kakor mi je zapovedal GOSPOD, moj Bog, da bi jih izpolnjevali v deželi, v katero greste, da jo vzamete v last. 6 Držite se jih in jih izpolnjujte, kajti to bo vaša modrost in razumnost v očeh ljudstev, ki bodo slišala o vseh teh zakonih; rekli bodo: »Resnično, ta véliki narod je modro in razumno ljudstvo.« 7 Kajti kateri véliki narod ima bogove, ki bi mu bili tako blizu, kakor je nam blizu GOSPOD, naš Bog, kadar koli ga kličemo? 8 In kateri véliki narod ima tako pravične zakone in odloke, kakor je vsa ta postava, ki jo danes dajem pred vas? 9 Samo varuj se in zelo pazi, da ne pozabiš reči, ki so jih videle tvoje oči, in da ti ne izginejo iz srca vse dni tvojega življenja! Pripoveduj o njih svojim sinovom in sinovom svojih sinov!
