13 He went up into the mountain, and called to himself those whom he wanted, and they went to him. 14 He appointed twelve, that they might be with him, and that he might send them out to preach, 15 and to have authority to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons: 16 Simon, to whom he gave the name Peter; 17 James the son of Zebedee; John, the brother of James, and he surnamed them Boanerges, which means, Sons of Thunder; 18 Andrew; Philip; Bartholomew; Matthew; Thomas; James, the son of Alphaeus; Thaddaeus; Simon the Zealot; 19 and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him. He came into a house.

13 Nato je šel na goro in poklical k sebi, katere je sam hotel. In odšli so k njemu. 14 Postavil jih je dvanajst, ki jih je imenoval tudi apostoli, da bi bili z njim in bi jih pošiljal oznanjat 15 ter bi imeli oblast izganjati demone. 16 Postavil jih je torej dvanajst: Simona, ki mu je dal ime Peter, 17 Jakoba, Zebedejevega sina, in Jakobovega brata Janeza, katerima je nadel ime Boanergés, to je Sinova groma, 18 Andreja, Filipa, Bartolomeja, Mateja, Tomaža, Jakoba, Alfejevega sina, Tadeja, Simona Kananeja 19 in Juda Iškarijota, ki ga je izdal.

6 But now he has obtained a more excellent ministry, by so much as he is also the mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted on better promises. 7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, then no place would have been sought for a second. 8 For finding fault with them, he said, “Behold, the days come,” says the Lord, “That I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah; 9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers, In the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; For they didn’t continue in my covenant, And I disregarded them,” says the Lord. 10 “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel. After those days,” says the Lord; “I will put my laws into their mind, I will also write them on their heart. I will be to them a God, And they will be to me a people. 11 They will not teach every man his fellow citizen, TR reads “neighbor” instead of “fellow citizen” Every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ For all will know me, From the least of them to the greatest of them. 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness. I will remember their sins and lawless deeds no more.” 13 In that he says, “A new covenant,” he has made the first old. But that which is becoming old and grows aged is near to vanishing away.

6 Dobil je torej toliko odličnejšo službo, kolikor je tudi srednik boljše zaveze, take, ki je vzpostavljena na boljših obljubah.

7 Ko bi bila namreč tista prva brez graje, ne bi iskali prostora za drugo. 8 Tako pa jih graja in pravi:
Glej, pridejo dnevi, govori Gospod,
ko bom z Izraelovo hišo in z Judovo hišo
sklenil novo zavezo;
9 ne take, kakor je bila zaveza, ki sem jo sklenil z njihovimi očeti
tistega dne, ko sem jih prijel za roko, da bi jih izpeljal iz egiptovske dežele.
Ker sami niso ostali v moji zavezi,
tudi jaz nisem skrbel zanje, govori Gospod.
10 To je namreč zaveza,
ki jo bom sklenil z Izraelovo hišo po tistih dneh, govori Gospod:
Svoje postave bom dal v njihov razum,
v njihova srca jih bom zapisal.
Jaz bom njihov Bog
in oni bodo moje ljudstvo.
11 Ne bodo učili vsak svojega rojaka,
vsak svojega brata in rekli: »Spoznaj Gospoda!«
ker me bodo poznali vsi,
od najmlajšega do najstarejšega med njimi.
12 Zakaj milosten bom do njihovih krivic
in njihovih grehov se ne bom več spominjal.
13 S tem da govori o novi zavezi, je prejšnjo razglasil za staro. Kar pa zastari in se postara, se bliža izginotju.

8 I will hear what God, Yahweh, will speak, For he will speak peace to his people, his saints; But let them not turn again to folly. 10 Mercy and truth meet together. Righteousness and peace have kissed each other. 11 Truth springs out of the earth. Righteousness has looked down from heaven. 12 Yes, Yahweh will give that which is good. Our land will yield its increase. 13 Righteousness goes before him, And prepares the way for his steps.

8 Pokaži nam, GOSPOD, svojo dobroto,
daj nam svoje odrešenje!

10 Zares, blizu je njegova rešitev tistim, ki se ga bojijo,
da bo slava prebivala v naši deželi.
11 Dobrota in zvestoba se bosta srečali,
pravičnost in mir se bosta poljubila.
12 Iz zemlje bo pognala zvestoba,
z nebes bo gledala pravičnost.
13 GOSPOD bo tudi dal, kar je dobro,
naša dežela bo dajala pridelek.
14 Pred njim bo šla pravičnost
in utirala pot njegovim korakom.
