9 Tiste dni je prišel Jezus iz Nazareta v Galileji in Janez ga je krstil v Jordanu. 10 Brž ko je stopil iz vode, je zagledal nebesa, ki se razpirajo, in Duha, ki se je spuščal nadenj kakor golob. 11 In zaslišal se je glas iz nebes: »Ti si moj ljubljeni Sin, nad teboj imam veselje.«

1 Ho, everyone who thirsts, come you to the waters, and he who has no money; come you, buy, and eat; yes, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
2 Why do you spend money for that which is not bread? and your labor for that which doesn’t satisfy? listen diligently to me, and eat you that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
3 Turn your ear, and come to me; hear, and your soul shall live: and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
4 Behold, I have given him for a witness to the peoples, a leader and commander to the peoples.
5 Behold, you shall call a nation that you don’t know; and a nation that didn’t know you shall run to you, because of Yahweh your God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he has glorified you.
6 Seek you Yahweh while he may be found; call you on him while he is near:
7 let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to Yahweh, and he will have mercy on him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says Yahweh.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
10 For as the rain comes down and the snow from the sky, and doesn’t return there, but waters the earth, and makes it bring forth and bud, and gives seed to the sower and bread to the eater;
11 so shall my word be that goes forth out of my mouth: it shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Pridite vsi, ki ste žejni
1 O vsi, ki ste žejni,
pridite k vodi,
in vi, ki nimate denarja,
pridite, kupite in jejte!
Pridite, kupite brez denarja,
brez plačila vino in mleko!
2 Zakaj trošite denar za to, kar ni kruh,
in svoj zaslužek za to, kar ne nasiti?
Poslušajte, poslušajte me in jejte dobro,
naj uživa v sočni jedi vaša duša.
3 Nagnite svoje uho in pridite k meni,
poslušajte in bo živela vaša duša.
Vcepil vam bom večno zavezo,
Davidove dobrote, ki so zanesljive.
4 Glej, za pričo narodom sem ga postavil,
za voditelja in zapovednika narodom.
5 Glej, narode, ki jih ne poznaš, boš poklical,
in narodi, ki te ne poznajo, bodo prihiteli k tebi,
zaradi GOSPODA, tvojega Boga,
in zaradi Svetega Izraelovega,
ki te je poveličal.
Božja beseda je živa
6 Iščite GOSPODA, dokler se daje najti,
kličite ga, dokler je blizu!
7 Krivični naj zapusti svojo pot
in hudobni svoje misli.
Vrne naj se h GOSPODU, da se ga bo usmilil,
k našemu Bogu, ki je velik v odpuščanju.
8 Kajti moje misli niso vaše misli
in vaše poti niso moje poti, govori GOSPOD.
9 Kajti kakor je nebo visoko nad zemljo,
tako visoko so moje poti nad vašimi potmi
in moje misli nad vašimi mislimi.
10 Kajti kakor pride dež in sneg izpod neba
in se ne vrača tja, ne da bi napojil zemljo,
jo naredil rodovitno in brstečo,
dal sejalcu seme in uživalcu kruh,
11 takó bo z mojo besedo, ki prihaja iz mojih ust:
ne vrne se k meni brez uspeha,
temveč bo storila, kar sem hotel,
in uspela v tem, za kar sem jo poslal.

5 Pojte GOSPODU, ker je storil velika dela,
naj bodo znana po vsej zemlji.
6 Zaukaj in zavriskaj, ki prebivaš na Sionu,

1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. Whoever loves the father also loves the child who is born of him.
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep his commandments.
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. His commandments are not grievous.
4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world: your faith.
5 Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
6 This is he who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not with the water only, but with the water and the blood. It is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.
7 For there are three who testify Only a few recent manuscripts add “in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. And there are three that testify on earth”:
8 the Spirit, and the water, and the blood; and the three agree as one.
9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is God’s testimony which he has testified concerning his Son.

Naša vera premaga svet
51 Kdor veruje, da je Jezus res Mesija, je rojen iz Boga; in vsak, kdor ljubi tistega, ki rodi, ljubi tudi tistega, ki je od njega rojen. 2 Da ljubimo Božje otroke, pa spoznamo po tem, če ljubimo Boga in izpolnjujemo njegove zapovedi. 3 To je Božja ljubezen, da se držimo njegovih zapovedi. In njegove zapovedi niso težke, 4 kajti vse, kar je rojeno iz Boga, premaga svet. In zmaga, ki premaga svet, je naša vera. 5 Kdo premaga svet, če ne tisti, ki veruje, da je Jezus Božji Sin?
Pričevanje za Sina
6 Jezus Kristus je tisti, ki je prišel z vodo in s krvjo, ne le z vodo, ampak z vodo in s krvjo. Duh to pričuje, kajti Duh je resnica. 7 Trije namreč pričujejo: 8 Duh in voda in kri. In to troje je zedinjeno. 9 Če sprejmemo že človeško pričevanje, je Božje pričevanje večje, kajti pričevanje Boga je to, da je pričeval za svojega Sina.
