17 But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to councils, and in their synagogues they will scourge you.
18 Yes, and you will be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony to them and to the Gentiles.
19 But when they deliver you up, don’t be anxious how or what you will say, for it will be given you in that hour what you will say.
20 For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.
21 “Brother will deliver up brother to death, and the father his child. Children will rise up against parents, and cause them to be put to death.
22 You will be hated by all men for my name’s sake, but he who endures to the end will be saved.

17 Varujte pa se ljudi, ker vas bodo izdajali sodiščem in bičali po svojih shodnicah. 18 Pred oblastnike in kralje vas bodo vlačili zaradi mene, v pričevanje njim in poganom. 19 Kadar pa vas izročijo, ne skrbite, kako in kaj bi govorili, kajti tisto uro vam bo dano, kaj naj bi govorili. 20 Ne boste namreč govorili vi, temveč Duh vašega Očeta bo govoril v vas. 21 Izdajal pa bo v smrt brat brata in oče sina. Otroci bodo vstajali zoper starše in jih izročali v smrt. 22 Vsi vas bodo sovražili zaradi mojega imena; toda kdor bo vztrajal do konca, bo rešen.

Štefana zaprejo
8 Štefan pa je bil poln milosti in moči in je delal velike čudeže in znamenja med ljudmi. 9 Toda vstali so nekateri iz shodnice, ki se imenuje shodnica osvobojencev in Cirencev in Aleksandríncev, in nekateri iz Kilikije in Azije ter se prerekali s Štefanom. 10 In niso se mogli ustavljati modrosti in Duhu, v katerem je govoril.

54 Now when they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their teeth.
55 But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, looked up steadfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
56 and said, “Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!”
57 But they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and rushed at him with one accord.
58 They threw him out of the city, and stoned him. The witnesses placed their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul.
59 They stoned Stephen as he called out, saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my Spirit!”
60 He kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, “Lord, don’t hold this sin against them!” When he had said this, he fell asleep.

Štefana kamnajo
54 Ko so to slišali, so se razsrdili v svojih srcih in škripali z zobmi proti njemu. 55 Štefan pa je poln Svetega Duha uprl pogled proti nebu in videl Božjo slavo in Jezusa, ki je stal na Božji desnici, 56 in rekel: »Glejte, nebesa vidim odprta in Sina človekovega, ki stoji na Božji desnici!« 57 Tedaj so zavpili z močnim glasom, si zatisnili ušesa in vsi hkrati planili nadenj. 58 Pahnili so ga iz mesta in ga kamnali. In priče so položile svoja oblačila k nogam mladeniča, ki mu je bilo ime Savel. 59 In kamnali so Štefana. Ta pa je molil in govoril: »Gospod Jezus, sprejmi mojega duha!« 60 Nato je pokleknil in zaklical z močnim glasom: »Gospod, ne prištevaj jim tega greha!« Ko je to rekel, je zaspal.

3 For you are my rock and my fortress,
Therefore for your name’s sake lead me and guide me.
4 Pluck me out of the net that they have laid secretly for me,
For you are my stronghold.
5 Into your hand I commend my spirit.
You redeem me, Yahweh, God of truth.
6 I hate those who regard lying vanities,
But I trust in Yahweh.
7 I will be glad and rejoice in your loving kindness,
For you have seen my affliction.
You have known my soul in adversities.
8 You have not shut me up into the hand of the enemy.
You have set my feet in a large place.
17 Let me not be disappointed, Yahweh, for I have called on you.
Let the wicked be disappointed. Let them be silent in Sheol.
21 Praise be to Yahweh,
For he has shown me his marvelous loving kindness in a strong city.

3 Nagni k meni svoje uho,
hitro me reši.
Bodi mi utrjena skala,
trdnjavska hiša, da me rešiš.
4 Zakaj ti si moja skala in moja trdnjava,
zaradi svojega imena me boš peljal in vodil.
5 Potegnil me boš iz mreže, ki so mi jo nastavili,
kajti ti si moja trdnjava.
6 V tvoje roke izročam svojega duha,
rešil si me, GOSPOD, zvesti Bog.
7 Sovražim tiste, ki varujejo puhle malike,

pred prepirom jezikov.
