Nato sem videl umrle, velike in majhne, kako stojijo pred prestolom. In odprle so se knjige. Odprla pa se je tudi druga knjiga: knjiga življenja. Umrli so bili sojeni po tem, kar je bilo napisano v knjigah, po svojih delih.

26 Now in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,
27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.
28 Having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, you highly favored one! The Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women!”
29 But when she saw him, she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered what kind of salutation this might be.
30 The angel said to her, “Don’t be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
31 Behold, you will conceive in your womb, and bring forth a son, and will call his name ‘Jesus.’
32 He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father, David,
33 and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever. There will be no end to his Kingdom.”
34 Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, seeing I am a virgin?”
35 The angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore also the holy one who is born from you will be called the Son of God.
36 Behold, Elizabeth, your relative, also has conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren.
37 For everything spoken by God is possible.”
38 Mary said, “Behold, the handmaid of the Lord; be it to me according to your word.”
The angel departed from her.

Napoved Jezusovega rojstva
26 V šestem mesecu je Bog poslal angela Gabriela v galilejsko mesto Nazaret, 27 k devici, zaročeni z možem, ki mu je bilo ime Jožef, iz Davidove hiše, in devici je bilo ime Marija. 28 Angel je vstopil k njej in rekel: »Pozdravljena, obdarjena z milostjo, Gospod je s teboj!« 29 Pri teh besedah se je vznemirila in premišljevala, kakšen pozdrav je to. 30 Angel ji je rekel: »Ne boj se, Marija, kajti našla si milost pri Bogu. 31 Glej, spočela boš in rodila sina, in daj mu ime Jezus. 32 Ta bo velik in se bo imenoval Sin Najvišjega. Gospod Bog mu bo dal prestol njegovega očeta Davida 33 in kraljeval bo v Jakobovi hiši vekomaj; in njegovemu kraljestvu ne bo konca.« 34 Marija pa je rekla angelu: »Kako se bo to zgodilo, ko ne poznam moža?« 35 Angel ji je odgovoril: »Sveti Duh bo prišel nadte in moč Najvišjega te bo obsenčila, zato se bo tudi Sveto, ki bo rojeno, imenovalo Božji Sin. 36 Glej, tudi tvoja sorodnica Elizabeta je spočela sina v starosti; in to je šesti mesec njej, ki so jo imenovali nerodovitno. 37 Bogu namreč ni nič nemogoče.« 38 Marija pa je rekla: »Glej, Gospodova služabnica sem, zgôdi se mi po tvoji besedi!« In angel je šel od nje.

10 Yahweh spoke again to Ahaz, saying,
11 “Ask a sign of Yahweh your God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.”
12 But Ahaz said, “I will not ask, neither will I tempt Yahweh.”
13 He said, “Listen now, house of David: Is it not enough for you to try the patience of men, that you will try the patience of my God also?
14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin will conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. “Immanuel” means “God with us.”

Bog očiščuje in ohranja Davidovo hišo
10 GOSPOD je še govoril Aházu in rekel: 11 »Izprosi si znamenje od GOSPODA, svojega Boga, v globini podzemlja ali v višavi zgoraj!« 12 Aház pa je rekel: »Ne bom prosil ne preizkušal GOSPODA.« 13 Nato je rekel Izaija: »Poslušajte vendar, Davidova hiša: vam je premalo, da utrujate ljudi, ko utrujate še mojega Boga? 14 Zato vam bo Gospod sam dal znamenje: Glej, mladenka bo spočela in rodila sina in mu dala ime Emanuel.

1 The earth is Yahweh’s, with its fullness;
The world, and those who dwell therein.
2 For he has founded it on the seas,
And established it on the floods.
3 Who may ascend to Yahweh’s hill?
Who may stand in his holy place?
4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart;
Who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood,
And has not sworn deceitfully.
5 He shall receive a blessing from Yahweh,
Righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6 This is the generation of those who seek Him,
Who seek your face—even Jacob.

Vhod v svetišče
1 Davidov psalm.
GOSPODOVA je zemlja in kar jo napolnjuje,
zemeljski krog in njegovi prebivalci.
2 Zakaj on jo je osnoval na morjih,
on jo je utrdil na veletokih.
3 Kdo se sme povzpeti na GOSPODOVO goro,
kdo sme stati na njegovem svetem kraju?
4 Tisti, ki je nedolžnih rok in čistega srca,
ki svoje duše ne vzdiguje k praznim rečem
in ne prisega na prevaro.
5 Prejel bo blagoslov od GOSPODA,
pravičnost od Boga svoje rešitve.
6 To je rod tistih, ki po njem povprašujejo,
ki iščejo tvoje obličje, Jakob.
