14 “For it is like a man, going into another country, who called his own servants, and entrusted his goods to them.
15 To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one; to each according to his own ability. Then he went on his journey.
16 Immediately he who received the five talents went and traded with them, and made another five talents.
17 In like manner he also who got the two gained another two.
18 But he who received the one went away and dug in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.
19 “Now after a long time the lord of those servants came, and reconciled accounts with them.
20 He who received the five talents came and brought another five talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents. Behold, I have gained another five talents besides them.’
21 “His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
22 “He also who got the two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents. Behold, I have gained another two talents besides them.’
23 “His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
24 “He also who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you that you are a hard man, reaping where you did not sow, and gathering where you did not scatter.
25 I was afraid, and went away and hid your talent in the earth. Behold, you have what is yours.’
26 “But his lord answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant. You knew that I reap where I didn’t sow, and gather where I didn’t scatter.
27 You ought therefore to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I should have received back my own with interest.
28 Take away therefore the talent from him, and give it to him who has the ten talents.
29 For to everyone who has will be given, and he will have abundance, but from him who has not, even that which he has will be taken away.
30 Throw out the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
Prilika o talentih
14 »Tako bo namreč kakor s človekom, ki se je odpravljal na potovanje in sklical svoje služabnike ter jim izročil svoje premoženje. 15 Enemu je dal pet talentov, drugemu dva in tretjemu enega, vsakemu po njegovi zmožnosti, in odpotoval. 16 Ta, ki je prejel pet talentov, je šel takoj z njimi trgovat in je pridobil pet drugih. 17 Prav tako je tisti, ki je prejel dva, pridobil dva druga. 18 Oni pa, ki je prejel enega, je šel, skopal jamo in skril denar svojega gospodarja. 19 Po dolgem času je prišel gospodar teh služabnikov in napravil z njimi obračun. 20 Pristopil je tisti, ki je prejel pet talentov. Prinesel je pet drugih in rekel: ›Gospodar, pet talentov si mi izročil, glej, pet drugih sem pridobil.‹ 21 Gospodar mu je rekel: ›Prav, dobri in zvesti služabnik! V malem si bil zvest, čez veliko te bom postavil. Vstopi v veselje svojega gospodarja!‹ 22 Nato je pristopil tisti, ki je dobil dva talenta, in rekel: ›Gospodar, dva talenta si mi izročil, glej, dva druga sem pridobil.‹ 23 Gospodar mu je rekel: ›Prav, dobri in zvesti služabnik! V malem si bil zvest, čez veliko te bom postavil. Vstopi v veselje svojega gospodarja!‹ 24 Nazadnje je pristopil oni, ki je dobil en talent, in rekel: ›Gospodar, vedel sem, da si trd človek. Žanješ, kjer nisi sejal, in zbiraš, kjer nisi razsul. 25 Zbal sem se in sem šel ter zakopal tvoj talent v zemljo. Glej, tu imaš, kar je tvojega!‹ 26 Gospodar pa mu je odgovoril: ›Malopridni in leni služabnik! Vedel si, da žanjem, kjer nisem sejal, in zbiram, kjer nisem razsul? 27 Zato bi moral dati moj denar menjalcem in ob vrnitvi bi jaz prejel svojo lastnino z obrestmi. 28 Vzemite mu torej talent in ga dajte tistemu, ki jih ima deset; 29 kajti vsakemu, ki ima, se bo dalo in bo imel obilo, tistemu pa, ki nima, se bo vzelo tudi to, kar ima. 30 Neuporabnega služabnika pa vrzite ven v najzunanjejšo temo. Tam bo jok in škripanje z zobmi.‹«

10 Who can find a worthy woman?
For her price is far above rubies.
11 The heart of her husband trusts in her.
He shall have no lack of gain.
12 She does him good, and not harm,
All the days of her life.
13 She seeks wool and flax,
And works eagerly with her hands.
19 She lays her hands to the distaff,
And her hands hold the spindle.
20 She opens her arms to the poor;
Yes, she extends her hands to the needy.
30 Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain;
But a woman who fears Yahweh, she shall be praised.
31 Give her of the fruit of her hands!
Let her works praise her in the gates!

Pohvala vrli ženi
10 Vrlo ženo, kdo jo najde!
Njena vrednost je daleč nad biseri.
11 Srce njenega moža zaupa vanjo,
povračila ne pogreša.
12 Izkazuje mu dobroto in ne hudega
vse dni svojega življenja.
13 Skrbi za volno in lan
in dela s pridnimi rokami.

19 Svoje roke izteguje k preslici,
njene dlani prijemajo vreteno.
20 Svojo dlan odpira potrebnemu,
svojo roko podaja ubogemu.

30 Milina je varljiva in lepota je prazna,
žena, ki se boji GOSPODA, pa je vredna hvale.
31 Dajajte ji od sadov njenih rok,
njena dela naj jo hvalijo pri mestnih vratih.

A Song of Ascents.
1 Blessed is everyone who fears Yahweh,
Who walks in his ways.
2 For you will eat the labor of your hands.
You will be happy, and it will be well with you.
3 Your wife will be as a fruitful vine,
In the innermost parts of your house;
Your children like olive plants,
Around your table.
4 Behold, thus is the man blessed who fears Yahweh.
5 May Yahweh bless you out of Zion,
And may you see the good of Jerusalem all the days of your life.
Blagoslov Božjih častilcev
Blagor vsakemu, ki se boji GOSPODA,
ki hodi po njegovih poteh.
2 Sadove truda svojih rok boš zares užival,
blagor tebi, tebi bo dobro.
3 Tvoja žena bo kakor rodovitna trta
sredi tvoje hiše;
tvoji otroci bodo kakor oljčne mladike
okrog tvoje mize.
4 Glej, tako bo blagoslovljen mož,
ki se boji GOSPODA.
5 Blagoslovi naj te GOSPOD s Siona,
da boš užival blaginjo Jeruzalema
vse dni svojega življenja,

1 But concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need that anything be written to you.
2 For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord comes like a thief in the night.
3 For when they are saying, “Peace and safety,” then sudden destruction will come on them, like birth pains on a pregnant woman; and they will in no way escape.
4 But you, brothers, aren’t in darkness, that the day should overtake you like a thief.
5 You are all children of light, and children of the day. We don’t belong to the night, nor to darkness,
6 so then let’s not sleep, as the rest do, but let’s watch and be sober.
1 Kar pa zadeva čase in trenutke, bratje, ni treba, da bi vam pisali o tem, 2 saj sami natančno veste, da bo Gospodov dan prišel, kakor pride tat ponoči. 3 Ko bodo govorili: »Mir in varnost,« tedaj bo nenadoma prišla nadnje poguba, kakor pride porodna bolečina nad nosečnico, in ne bodo ubežali. 4 Vi, bratje, pa niste v temi, da bi vas ta dan presenetil kakor tat, 5 saj ste vsi sinovi luči in sinovi dneva. Nismo sinovi noči in ne teme, 6 zato nikar ne spimo kakor drugi, ampak bodimo budni in trezni.
