9 I tell you, make for yourselves friends by means of unrighteous mammon, so that when you fail, they may receive you into the eternal tents. ¹⁰ He who is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much. He who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much. ¹¹ If therefore you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? ¹² If you have not been faithful in that which is another’s, who will give you that which is your own? ¹³ No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to one, and despise the other. You aren’t able to serve God and mammon “Mammon” refers to riches or a false god of wealth..” ¹⁴ The Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they scoffed at him. ¹⁵ He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves in the sight of men, but God knows your hearts. For that which is exalted among men is an abomination in the sight of God.

14 Vse to so poslušali tudi farizeji, ki so bili lakomni na denar, in so se mu posmehovali. 15 On pa jim je rekel: »Vi sebe opravičujete pred ljudmi, toda Bog pozna vaša srca. Kar je pred ljudmi visoko, je pred Bogom gnusoba.

10 But I rejoice in the Lord greatly, that now at length you have revived your thought for me; in which you did indeed take thought, but you lacked opportunity. ¹¹ Not that I speak in respect to lack, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content in it. ¹² I know how to be humbled, and I know also how to abound. In everything and in all things I have learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in need. ¹³ I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me. ¹⁴ However you did well that you shared in my affliction. ¹⁵ You yourselves also know, you Philippians, that in the beginning of the Gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no assembly shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving but you only. ¹⁶ For even in Thessalonica you sent once and again to my need. ¹⁷ Not that I seek for the gift, but I seek for the fruit that increases to your account. ¹⁸ But I have all things, and abound. I am filled, having received from Epaphroditus the things that came from you, a sweet-smelling fragrance, an acceptable and well-pleasing sacrifice to God. ¹⁹ My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Zahvala za darove Filipljanov

10 Močno sem se razveselil v Gospodu, da se je končno le razcvetela vaša skrbnost do mene. Sicer ste jo imeli že prej, a manjkala vam je priložnost. 11 Tega ne pravim, ker bi mi česa manjkalo, saj sem se navadil, da sem zadovoljen v vsakršnem položaju. 12 Znam biti reven in znam biti v obilju. Na vse mogoče sem se navadil: biti sit in biti lačen, biti v obilju in biti v pomanjkanju. 13 Vse zmorem v njem, ki mi daje moč. 14 A kljub temu je bilo lepo, da ste postali soudeleženi v moji stiski.

15 Sicer pa prav vi, Filipljani, veste, da na začetku oznanjevanja evangelija, ko sem odpotoval iz Makedonije, nobena Cerkev ni odprla z mano računa o izdatkih in prejemkih, če izvzamem vas. 16 Pa tudi v Tesaloníko ste mi več kot enkrat poslali, kar sem potreboval. 17 Tega ne govorim, ker bi si želel vašega daru, ampak si želim čim obilnejšega sadu v vaše dobro. 18 Sicer pa imam vsega dovolj: živim v obilju, odkar sem dobil od Epafrodita to, kar ste mi poslali v blago dišeč vonj, v prijetno žrtev, ki je Bogu všeč. 19 Moj Bog, bogat, kakor je, bo po svojem bogastvu v veličastvu potešil vse vaše potrebe v Kristusu Jezusu.
