22 He went on his way through cities and villages, teaching, and traveling on to Jerusalem.
23 One said to him, “Lord, are they few who are saved?”
He said to them,
24 “Strive to enter in by the narrow door, for many, I tell you, will seek to enter in, and will not be able.
25 When once the master of the house has risen up, and has shut the door, and you begin to stand outside, and to knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’ then he will answer and tell you, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’
26 Then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drink in your presence, and you taught in our streets.’
27 He will say, ‘I tell you, I don’t know where you come from. Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity.’
28 There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and all the prophets, in the Kingdom of God, and yourselves being thrown outside.
29 They will come from the east, west, north, and south, and will sit down in the Kingdom of God.
30 Behold, there are some who are last who will be first, and there are some who are first who will be last.”

22 Ko je učil na poti v Jeruzalem, je šel skozi mesta in vasi. 23 Tedaj mu je nekdo rekel: »Gospod, ali je malo teh, ki se bodo rešili?« On pa jim je dejal: 24 »Prizadevajte si, da vstopite skozi ozka vrata, kajti povem vam: Veliko jih bo želelo vstopiti, pa ne bodo mogli. 25 Ko bo hišni gospodar vstal in vrata zaprl, boste ostali zunaj. Začeli boste trkati na vrata in govoriti: ›Gospod, odpri nam!‹ Pa vam bo odvrnil: ›Ne vem, od kod ste.‹ 26 Tedaj mu boste začeli govoriti: ›Pred teboj smo jedli in pili in po naših ulicah si učil,‹ 27 toda rekel vam bo: ›Ne vem, od kod ste. Pojdite proč izpred mene vsi, ki delate krivico!‹ 28 Tam bo jok in škripanje z zobmi, ko boste videli Abrahama, Izaka in Jakoba in vse preroke v Božjem kraljestvu, sebe pa vržene ven. 29 Prišli bodo od vzhoda in zahoda, od severa in juga in bodo sedli za mizo v Božjem kraljestvu. 30 In glej, so zadnji, ki bodo prvi, in so prvi, ki bodo zadnji.«

1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
2 “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with a promise:
3 “that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth.”
4 You fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
5 Servants, be obedient to those who according to the flesh are your masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as to Christ;
6 not in the way of service only when eyes are on you, as men-pleasers; but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
7 with good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men;
8 knowing that whatever good thing each one does, he will receive the same again from the Lord, whether he is bound or free.
9 You masters, do the same things to them, and give up threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with him.

1 Otroci, ubogajte svoje starše v Gospodu, kajti tako je prav. 2 Spoštuj očeta in mater – to je prva zapoved z obljubo: 3 da ti bo dobro in boš dolgo živel na zemlji. 4 In vi, očetje, ne jezite svojih otrok, temveč jih vzgajajte v Gospodovi vzgoji in opominjanju.
Sužnji in gospodarji
5 Sužnji, ubogajte svoje zemeljske gospodarje kakor Kristusa, v strahu in trepetu, v preprostosti srca, 6 ne zaradi videza, kakor da bi hoteli ugajati ljudem, ampak kot Kristusovi sužnji, ki iz srca izpolnjujejo Božjo voljo. 7 Služíte z dobro voljo kakor Gospodu in ne kakor ljudem. 8 Saj veste, da bo vsak prejel od Gospoda po tem, kar bo naredil dobrega, bodisi suženj bodisi svobodnjak. 9 Tudi vi, gospodarji, se prav tako vedíte do njih in opustite grožnje, saj veste, da je tako zanje kakor za vas gospodar v nebesih in da on ne gleda na osebo.
