13 ¹ Now there were some present at the same time who told him about the Galileans, whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. ² Jesus answered them, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans, because they suffered such things? ³ I tell you, no, but, unless you repent, you will all perish in the same way. ⁴ Or those eighteen, on whom the tower in Siloam fell, and killed them; do you think that they were worse offenders than all the men who dwell in Jerusalem? ⁵ I tell you, no, but, unless you repent, you will all perish in the same way.” ⁶ He spoke this parable. “A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it, and found none. ⁷ He said to the vine dresser, ‘Behold, these three years I have come looking for fruit on this fig tree, and found none. Cut it down. Why does it waste the soil?’ ⁸ He answered, ‘Lord, leave it alone this year also, until I dig around it, and fertilize it. ⁹ If it bears fruit, fine; but if not, after that, you can cut it down.’”

Spreobrnjenje ali pogubljenje

1 Prav v tistem času je bilo tam navzočih nekaj ljudi, ki so mu pripovedovali o Galilejcih, katerih kri je Pilat pomešal z njihovimi žrtvami. 2 Odgovoril jim je: »Mar mislite, da so bili ti Galilejci večji grešniki kakor vsi drugi Galilejci, ker so to pretrpeli? 3 Povem vam, da ne. A če se ne spreobrnete, boste vsi enako pokončani. 4 Ali pa onih osemnajst, na katere se je podrl stolp v Síloi in jih ubil, mar mislite, da so bili večji dolžniki kakor vsi drugi prebivalci Jeruzalema? 5 Povem vam, da ne. A če se ne spreobrnete, boste vsi prav tako pokončani.«

Prilika o nerodovitni smokvi

6 In povedal je tole priliko: »Nekdo je imel v svojem vinogradu zasajeno smokvo. Prišel je iskat sad na njej, pa ga ni našel. 7 Rekel je svojemu vinogradniku: ›Glej, tri leta je že, kar hodim iskat sad na tej smokvi, pa ga ne najdem. Posekaj jo, čemú izčrpava zemljo?‹ 8 Ta pa mu je odgovoril: ›Gospod, pústi jo še letos,

da jo okopljem in pognojim. 9 Morda bo naposled obrodila sad; če pa ne, jo boš posekal.‹«

7 But to each one of us was the grace given according to the measure of the gift of Christ. ⁸ Therefore he says, “When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men.” ⁹ Now this, “He ascended,” what is it but that he also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things. ¹¹ He gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, shepherds The word for “shepherds” can also be correctly translated “pastors.” and teachers; ¹² for the perfecting of the saints, to the work of serving, to the building up of the body of Christ; ¹³ until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a full grown man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; ¹⁴ that we may no longer be children, tossed back and forth and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in craftiness, after the wiles of error; ¹⁵ but speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him, who is the head, Christ; ¹⁶ from whom all the body, being fitted and knit together through that which every joint supplies, according to the working in measure of each individual part, makes the body increase to the building up of itself in love.

7 Vsakomur izmed nas pa je bila dana milost po meri Kristusovega daru. 8 Zato je rečeno:

Povzpel se je na višavo, ujete peljal ujetnike,

dal je darove ljudem.

9 Kaj pa pomeni beseda Povzpel se je, če ne to, da se je prej spustil v spodnje kraje zemlje? 10 On, ki se je spustil, je isti, ki se je vzdignil čez vsa nebesa, da bi napolnil vse. 11 In on je dal, da so nekateri apostoli, drugi preroki, spet drugi oznanjevalci evangelija, spet drugi pastirji in učitelji, 12 da se sveti usposobijo za delo služenja, za izgrajevanje Kristusovega telesa, 13 dokler vsi ne pridemo do edinosti vere in do spoznanja Božjega Sina, do popolnega človeka, do mere doraslosti Kristusove polnosti. 14 Tako ne bomo več nedorasli otroci, ki jih premetava in kot valove razburka vsak veter nauka v človeški zvijačnosti in pretkanosti, v blodnem zavajanju. 15 Pač pa živimo iz resnice v ljubezni, da bomo v vsem rastli vanj, ki je glava, Kristus. 16 Iz njega dobiva rast celotno telo, združeno in spojeno z njim, ob sodelovanju celotnega veziva, po delovanju, v skladu z mero slehernega dela, tako da omogoča rast telesa in gradi samega sebe v ljubezni.
