49 “I came to throw fire on the earth. I wish it were already kindled. ⁵⁰ But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am until it is accomplished! ⁵¹ Do you think that I have come to give peace in the earth? I tell you, no, but rather division. ⁵² For from now on, there will be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. ⁵³ They will be divided, father against son, and son against father; mother against daughter, and daughter against her mother; mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law, and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”

49 »Prišel sem, da vržem ogenj na zemljo, in kako želim, da bi se že razplamtel! 50 Moram pa prejeti krst in v kakšni stiski sem, dokler se to ne dopolni. 51 Mislite, da sem prišel prinašat mir na zemljo? Ne, vam rečem, ampak razdeljenost. 52 Odslej bo namreč v eni hiši pet razdeljenih: trije proti dvema in dva proti trem; 53 razdelili se bodo:

Oče proti sinu

in sin proti očetu;

mati proti hčeri

in hči proti materi;

tašča proti svoji snahi

in snaha proti tašči.«

14 For this cause, I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, ¹⁵ from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, ¹⁶ that he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that you may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inward man; ¹⁷ that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; to the end that you, being rooted and grounded in love, ¹⁸ may be strengthened to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, ¹⁹ and to know Christ’s love which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. ²⁰ Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, ²¹ to him be the glory in the assembly and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.

14 Zato upogibam svoja kolena pred Očetom, 15 po katerem se imenuje vsakršno očetovstvo v nebesih in na zemlji, 16 naj vam dá po bogastvu svojega veličastva, da se po njegovem Duhu močno utrdite v notranjem človeku. 17 Naj Kristus po veri prebiva v vaših srcih, da bi tako, ukoreninjeni in utemeljeni v ljubezni, 18 mogli z vsemi svetimi doumeti, kolikšna je širokost in dolgost in visočina in globočina 19 ter spoznati Kristusovo ljubezen, ki presega spoznanje, da bi se izpolnili do vse Božje polnosti. 20 Njemu pa, ki more po môči, katera deluje v nas, v vsem napraviti neznansko več od tega, kar prosimo ali mislimo, 21 njemu slava v Cerkvi in v Kristusu Jezusu skozi vse rodove, na veke vekov. Amen.
