35 “Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning.
36 Be like men watching for their lord, when he returns from the marriage feast; that, when he comes and knocks, they may immediately open to him.
37 Blessed are those servants, whom the lord will find watching when he comes. Most assuredly I tell you, that he will dress himself, and make them recline, and will come and serve them.
38 They will be blessed if he comes in the second or third watch, and finds them so.

35 »Vaša ledja naj bodo opasana in svetilke prižgane, 36 vi pa bodite podobni ljudem, ki čakajo, kdaj se bo njihov gospodar vrnil s svatbe, da mu odprejo takoj, ko pride in potrka. 37 Blagor tistim služabnikom, ki jih bo gospodar ob svojem prihodu našel budne! Resnično, povem vam: Opasal se bo in jih posadil za mizo. Pristopil bo in jim stregel. 38 In če pride ob drugi ali tretji nočni straži in jih najde takó, blagor jim!

12 that you were at that time separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world.
13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off are made near in the blood of Christ.
14 For he is our peace, who made both one, and broke down the middle wall of partition,
15 having abolished in the flesh the hostility, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man of the two, making peace;
16 and might reconcile them both in one body to God through the cross, having killed the hostility thereby.
17 He came and preached peace to you who were far off and to those who were near.
18 For through him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.
19 So then you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God,
20 being built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief cornerstone;
21 in whom the whole building, fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord;
22 in whom you also are built together for a habitation of God in the Spirit.

| 12 Pomnite torej, da ste bili v tistem času ločeni od Mesija, zunaj Izraelovega občestva in tuji zavezam obljube. Bili ste brez upanja in v svetu brez Boga. 13 Zdaj pa ste v Kristusu Jezusu vi, ki ste bili nekoč oddaljeni, postali po Kristusovi krvi bližnji. 14 Kajti on je naš mir, on, ki je iz obeh napravil eno, s tem da je podrl steno pregrade, to je sovraštvo. 15 V svojem mesu je odpravil postavo zapovedi v predpisih, da bi v sebi iz dveh ustvaril enega, novega človeka. Vzpostavil je mir 16 in po križu spravil oba z Bogom v enem telesu, ko je v svoji osebi ubil sovraštvo. 17 Prišel je, da bi oznanil mir vam, ki ste bili daleč, in mir tistim, ki so bili blizu. 18 Kajti po njem imamo oboji dostop k Očetu v enem Duhu. 19 Potemtakem niste več tujci in priseljenci, temveč sodržavljani svetih in domačini pri Bogu. 20 Sezidani ste na temelju apostolov in prerokov. Vogalni kamen pa je sam Kristus Jezus, 21 v katerem se zedinja celotna zgradba, tako da raste v svet tempelj v Gospodu. 22 Vanj se z drugimi tudi vi vzidavate za Božje bivališče v Duhu. |

9 Surely his salvation is near those who fear him,
That glory may dwell in our land.
10 Mercy and truth meet together.
Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
11 Truth springs out of the earth.
Righteousness has looked down from heaven.
12 Yes, Yahweh will give that which is good.
Our land will yield its increase.
13 Righteousness goes before him,
And prepares the way for his steps.

9 Poslušam, kaj govori GOSPOD Bog:
Zares, govori o miru
svojemu ljudstvu in svojim zvestim
in naj se ne obračajo k norosti.
10 Zares, blizu je njegova rešitev tistim, ki se ga bojijo,
da bo slava prebivala v naši deželi.
11 Dobrota in zvestoba se bosta srečali,
pravičnost in mir se bosta poljubila.
12 Iz zemlje bo pognala zvestoba,
z nebes bo gledala pravičnost.
13 GOSPOD bo tudi dal, kar je dobro,
naša dežela bo dajala pridelek.
14 Pred njim bo šla pravičnost
in utirala pot njegovim korakom.
